Rangers have been issued a licence to kill dingoes responsible for three attacks on tourists at Karijini National Park in less than a week.<\/p>\n
The search for the problem dingoes has been ramped up with multiple rangers patrolling Dales Campground during daylight hours and nine to patrol overnight.<\/p>\n
The most recent attack was on Wednesday evening when a four-year-old girl was bitten on the leg and her mum also attacked while trying to protect the little girl.<\/p>\n
They were both treated at the scene before being taken to Tom Price Hospital.<\/p>\n
Parks and Wildlife revealed an aggressive dingo nipped at the clothing of a six-year-old girl days earlier on Saturday morning before a six-year-old boy was bitten on the neck and arm on Monday evening. All attacks occurred at the campground.<\/p>\n
The injured boy\u2019s parents took him to Tom Price hospital to be treated.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
A Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions spokesperson said ranger patrols had increased after the initial attack and the intent was to locate and \u201chumanely destroy\u201d the problem dingoes.<\/p>\n
Nine staff members, including a dingo management specialist, are on patrol.<\/p>\n
DBCA Pilbara Regional Leader Conservation Hamish Robertson urged adults to keep a close eye on children while at the campsite.<\/p>\n
\u201cSecure food and waste, and follow all safety advice provided by park staff,\u201d Mr Robertson said.<\/p>\n
DBCA is contacting campers due to arrive at the campground for the long weekend and those with children will be offered an alternative campsite at the park.<\/p>\n
Dales Campground remains open, with park rangers and campground hosts advising campers of the dingo risk on arrival and providing safety information.<\/p>\n
