\"Kajol Kajol<\/a>, who has never shied away from speaking her mind, got candid about how relationships and lifestyles have evolved since the 1990s, as she looked back at her iconic film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ), which completed 30 years last year.In a conversation with Lilly Singh, Kajol pointed out how the mindset of young people has changed over time.\u201cI don\u2019t think anybody at the age of 18 or 19 is going up and telling their dad, \u2018Can I please go on this trip?\u2019 It\u2019s more like, \u2018Dad, I really have to go on this school trip, and you really have to pay for it.\u2019 So it\u2019s more that than, you know, asking for permission,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

What Gen Z can take away from DDLJ<\/p>\n

Despite the shift in attitudes, Kajol emphasised that the core message of DDLJ still holds relevance.\u201cI think what I would love for them to take away is that relationships and family matter at the end of the day, whatever we take from life. So I hope that\u2019s one aspect of it\u2014that your family is your family, and they love you. And, you know, that\u2019s what it\u2019s all about,\u201d she shared. <\/p>\n

What Gen Z should not take away<\/p>\n

Adding a touch of humour, Kajol was quick to point out what Gen Z shouldn\u2019t take from the film.\u201cMy dressing sense, at least, for sure,\u201d she quipped. On the work front, Kajol was last seen in Maa, which released in theatres in 2025. The same year, she also featured in Sarzameen, which premiered on OTT.
