Two West Australian builders were recognised in this year\u2019s Australian Home of the Year awards, which were announced last weekend.<\/p>\n

The Rural Building Company won project home of the year for a thoughtfully designed home in Oldbury, which was also WA\u2019s finalist in the home of the year category.<\/p>\n

Its winning home has a classic Australian aesthetic starting with its front elevation, with bush pole supports, corrugated steel accents and a wide veranda that extends to an alfresco area.<\/p>\n

Chris Guilbert, from Tenfold Homes, won the emerging builder award.<\/p>\n

Over the past 15 years, Mr Guilbert has transformed the Welshpool-based business from a renovation specialist to a premium custom and boutique builder.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

A five-level, vertical residence built on a challenging Gold Coast cliff edge beat out six finalists from around the country, to take out this year\u2019s home of the year.<\/p>\n

The aptly named Cloudbreak, is half of duplex but delivers the privacy and permanence of a stand-alone homes. It has a basement wellness retreat and cinema, a master suite, open-plan living, and roof top terrace with a pool, spa and helipad.<\/p>\n

Glass floor panels links every level, drawing in light, and offering up vies of the nearby hinterland.<\/p>\n

The home was also named the Australian townhouse of the year.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe winning projects redefine what\u2019s possible in terms of innovation; they\u2019re setting new benchmarks for the industry,\u201d sponsor HIA\u2019s managing director Jocelyn Martin said.<\/p>\n

Other WA finalists included Adrian Zorzi in the apartment complex and apartment of year year categories. His top-floor, three-bedroom, 2.5 bathroom appartment has keyless entry, polished stone flooring, Forimstone and Q stone surfaces and European appliances.<\/p>\n
