Images: Apex Hunters United <\/p>\n<p>Apex Hunters United, run by Triple Eight co-driver Scott Pye, has published CCTV of the incident, alongside Whincup\u2019s explanation of what occurred.<\/p>\n<p>Speedcafe understands the crash took place in the early hours of Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n<p>The post claims the team was alerted at 3:30am and informed \u201cyou might be the victim of a ram raid\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNever a dull moment here at 40 Depot Street,\u201d said Whincup in the video, which features a white Nissan SUV.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fcttn.com\/products\/v8s-in-nz-tee\" rel=\"nofollow sponsored noopener\" data-bid=\"1\" data-no-instant=\"1\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none; vertical-align: middle;\" src=\"https:\/\/speedcafe.b-cdn.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/3-1.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><br \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOld mate\u2019s come up the street, hasn\u2019t realised there\u2019s a right angle at the end of Depot [and] fired straight through the fence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDone an unbelievable job to miss the pylon sign and the fire hydrant.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Whincup added the driver had \u201ccracked his head on the windscreen, then done a runner\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The team believes the driver was scared off by the high level of onsite security, which includes the CCTV cameras.<\/p>\n<p>Triple Eight confirmed police attended the scene and that only external damage was inflicted to the facility.<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday\u2019s incident came little over a year after Triple Eight\u2019s headquarters narrowly<a href=\"https:\/\/speedcafe.com\/triple-eight-narrowly-avoids-fire-disaster\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0avoided damage when an adjacent building burnt down<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Triple Eight\u2019s Red Bull Ampol Racing Mustangs and key equipment are not currently in the building as they continue the journey back from New Zealand.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/t.cfjump.com\/92797\/b\/250635\" rel=\"nofollow sponsored noopener\" data-bid=\"1\" data-no-instant=\"1\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none; vertical-align: middle;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/250635.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><br \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"CCTV, left, and the aftermath.
