PIES YOUNGSTER SUFFERS SECOND ACL INJURY<\/p>\n

Collingwood defender Reef McInnes has suffered another ACL injury in a shattering blow.<\/p>\n

McInnes, who\u2019s 2025 season was ruined by an ACL injury to his right knee, sustained the same setback to his opposite knee during Friday\u2019s VFL game against Essendon.<\/p>\n

Still ramping up to full fitness in the twos, the 23-year old suffered the injury the first quarter and didn\u2019t return to the contest, with scans confirming the worst possible news.<\/p>\n

\u201cReef\u2019s injury is incredibly disappointing news, particularly given the commitment and hard work he has put in over the past 12 months to return from his right ACL,\u201d Collingwood footy boss Charlie Gardiner said.<\/p>\n

LYON: \u2018I HAVE NO RELATIOSHIP WITH MEDIA\u2019<\/p>\n

Ross Lyon says \u201cI have no relationship with the media\u201d after last week\u2019s icy press conference added another spicy chapter between the Saints coach and reporters.<\/p>\n

Lyon\u2019s frosty comments after his side\u2019s one-point loss to Adelaide came under scrutiny in an intriguing back-and-forth.<\/p>\n

The St Kilda boss argued the 2-4 club had improved \u201cif you take out win-loss\u201d and clapped back with series of questions some thought came across condescending in an address that Saints president Andrew Bassat defended<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Asked about his \u201cpress conference etiquette\u201d on Friday when speaking publicly for the first time this week, Lyon said it\u2019s not something he puts stock in. <\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t assess my relationship, I have no relationship with the media,\u201d Lyon told reporters.<\/p>\n

\u201cI represent the club, and I roll up to the press conferences as they\u2019re scheduled and probably aim to answer concisely.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Saints host West Coast at Marvel Stadium on Sunday.<\/p>\n

CLARKO WHACKS BLUES \u2018PILE-ON\u2019 OVER HOLLANDS SAGA<\/p>\n

North Melbourne coach Alastair Clarkson believes footy media\u2019s \u201cpile-on\u201d of Carlton throughout the Elijah Hollands saga has been <\/p>\n

\u201cunbelievable\u201d and only \u201cadds to the trauma\u201d. <\/p>\n

It comes after Collingwood champion Scott Pendlebury said he \u201cdidn\u2019t pick up anything\u201d relating to Hollands\u2019 behaviour last Thursday night on the MCG. <\/p>\n

On Thursday, the Blues confirmed they had submitted their investigation into Hollands\u2019 mental health episode to the AFL<\/a>, which will now examine the findings before ruling on any potential sanction. <\/p>\n

Asked about handling delicate situations such as Hollands\u2019, Clarkson stated on Friday morning that the footy public\u2019s \u201cpile-on\u201d of Carlton had \u201cdisappointed\u201d him. <\/p>\n

His comments on SEN Breakfast came after Blues coach Michael Voss launched an impassioned and emotional defence of his club on Wednesday<\/a>, claiming Blues staffers had been \u201cbullied\u201d during \u201cball-by-ball\u201d commentary on the fallout to Hollands\u2019 mental health episode. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe number-one thing that came out in Vossy\u2019s press conference yesterday was that the number-one thing is around the care of the player,\u201d Clarkson began on SEN. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe haven\u2019t seen it in the game, and so now we\u2019re all being critical \u2014 \u2018you should have been able to see that\u2019 \u2014 well, maybe, but sometimes things just shoot past the keeper that you can\u2019t explain. <\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know the details of it, all I sit and observe is that here\u2019s a poor kid who\u2019s had something go wrong with him, and we don\u2019t know what the reason is for that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Clarkson said he was especially moved by Ben Hollands\u2019 heartfelt post to social media midweek<\/a>, in which Elijah\u2019s father said he would \u201clift (Elijah) up until he is restored in full\u201d. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe message by his father \u2014 of all the stuff that has come out of that, that is the most impressive for mine; that beautiful message that was sent by Ben,\u201d Clarkson said. <\/p>\n

\u201cWhat a beautiful message. All the commentary around it and that sort of stuff, and you just cut through to what was the most important thing, and that was returning his son to full health.\u201d<\/p>\n

The veteran mentor said he \u201ccan\u2019t believe\u201d the backlash towards the Blues, declaring: \u201cThere is no way that club, or any club, is not trying to do the very best by their player, and I think we need to just take a step back and let things unfold a little bit.\u201d<\/p>\n

Probed on whether the questioning around trying to get to the bottom of the situation had been fair, Clarkson said: \u201cYeah, I think they\u2019re fair questions to ask, but the problem is that there\u2019s a thousand of you all trying to ask the same question, and it just becomes an unbelievable pile-on. <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd 999 of them have been a pile-on (of the) Carlton footy club, and I just don\u2019t think there\u2019s a balance there.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have got the illness of a player, and they\u2019re trying to deal with that, first and foremost. And to be fair, they\u2019re not giving a rat\u2019s arse about the 999 that are having a crack at them, because all they\u2019re caring about is getting the health of the player back in check again. <\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019ve got to deal with the other stuff, but it needs to be done, because no one likes to see it. So, some sort of investigation needs to be done, and Carlton would be the first club that\u2019s sitting there saying \u2018we need to work out how the hell did that happen?\u2019 Because it was obvious that he wasn\u2019t well. <\/p>\n

\u201cBut for that to become a pile-on \u2026 come on, you guys. Some of the people who are making these comments in the press are guys who have made those sorts of errors in their lives or in their footy careers. <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd they just need to step back and understand that, hey, sometimes it\u2019s pretty murky \u2026 I\u2019m just concerned with the pile-on that just adds to the trauma for both the club and the player, trying to deal with a very, very, very difficult situation that they\u2019re facing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, on Triple M on Thursday night, Pendlebury said he\u2019d spoken to Hollands post-match and actually complimented the Blue\u2019s level of communication and feedback to his teammates. <\/p>\n

\u201cAfter the game, I briefly spoke to him. On the ground, I don\u2019t know about kicks, marks and handballs,\u201d Pendlebury said on Thursday.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn the ground, he was really instructional to his teammates about where to run, where to move. I said to him you are really good out there with instructing your teammates.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t pick up anything after the game.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe role he plays at Carlton, we cross paths in the role that I do. He\u2019s sort of up and down the middle, similar to me. I could just hear him directing players on the field. \u2018Got to move there. Come back here. Go that way.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve played Carlton before, so I know what his role is, and I didn\u2019t pick up anything, because he was in the same spots.<\/p>\n
