The 45-year-old is charged alongside Zachariah Bruckner, 32, who prosecutors allege hit Mr Hawtin several times in the neck with an axe, rendering him tetraplegic.<\/p>\n
Another woman, Letitia Fortune, is also charged with attempting to smother Mr Hawtin with a “pillow or bag” when he was recovering at a rehabilitation centre.<\/p>\n

On Friday, Supreme Court Justice Rachael Gray said she took into consideration that Dr Lines has been in custody for almost three years, but that there were two other matters that had a “significant influence” on her decision.<\/p>\n
“The flight risk that the applicant poses is, in my view, essential and a significant matter which has caused me to consider very carefully whether the risk is such that the presumption in favour of bail is overcome,” she said.<\/p>\n
“There was significant planning by the applicant following her departure from Australia and her onward journey.<\/p>\n
“This travel was designed in a manner to avoid detection by authorities.”<\/p>\n

Justice Gray said she also took into consideration the alleged threat Dr Lines poses to Mr Hawtin and his mother.<\/p>\n
“On the prosecution case, the applicant has demonstrated a real and current threat to both complainants having demonstrated persistent determined and extensive efforts to have both of them killed,” she said.<\/p>\n
She added that she also considered the “potential risk of harm” Dr Lines poses to the wider community.<\/p>\n
