Jorge Martin\u2019s eventful Friday at the Spanish MotoGP has ended with a three place grid penalty.<\/p>\n

The factory Aprilia <\/a>rider, who arrives at Jerez holding second in the world championship behind team-mate Marco Bezzecchi<\/a>, began the weekend tenth fastest in FP1.<\/p>\n

However, Martin then crashed from his RS-GP after the chequered flag, losing the front while on his way to the practice starts.<\/p>\n

The 2024 MotoGP<\/a> champion then suffered another fall during afternoon Practice, this time at the final corner, before securing ninth place and direct access to Saturday’s Qualifying 2.<\/p>\n

However, Martin<\/a> has now been handed a three-place grid penalty by the FIM Stewards for riding slowly on the racing line in the final minutes of the session and \u201cdisturbing\u201d Alex Marquez<\/a> at Turns 3-4.<\/p>\n

It is Martin\u2019s first offence of the season. The grid penalty only applies to the grand prix, and not Saturday afternoon\u2019s Sprint race.<\/p>\n

Despite the incident, Alex Marquez set the fastest lap time of the day for Gresini Ducati.<\/a><\/p>\n
