Jake Reiner has broken his silence on his parents Rob and Michele Reiner\u2019s tragic deaths on Friday.<\/p>\n

In a Substack essay, Jake recalled the moment he found out that his parents died on the afternoon of December 14, 2025.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was in (Los Angeles\u2019) Union Station at a celebration of life for one of my best friends, Christian Anderson, who died in October,\u201d Mr Reiner wrote. \u201cIt was at that moment I received a call from my sister Romy telling me our father was dead. Minutes later, she called back telling me our mother was also dead\u201d.<\/p>\n

Mr Reiner continued, \u201cThe 45-minute ride from downtown to the west side was unendurable. My world, as I knew it, had collapsed. I was in a trance. The only thing I could focus on was that I needed to get to my childhood home. I needed to get to my sister. I needed to figure out what the hell just happened.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 34-year-old declared \u201cthis is my story\u201d and promised that sister Romy, 28, \u201cwill tell hers in her own way and in her time\u201d, reports Page Six<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Mr Reiner said that he feels \u201crobbed of so many things\u201d over losing his parents, noting that the tragedy \u201csimultaneously breaks my heart and enrages me\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cNothing can prepare you for what it feels like to lose both parents instantly at the same time,\u201d Mr Reiner continued. \u201cIt\u2019s too devastating to comprehend. I still wake up every morning having to convince myself that, no, it\u2019s not a dream. This truly is my living nightmare\u201d.<\/p>\n

Rob and Michele Reiner were died at their home in California on December 14.<\/p>\n

The couple\u2019s son Nick, 32, was arrested and charged with two separate charges for first-degree murder and is currently behind bars at Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles. He pleaded not guilty in February.<\/p>\n

In his essay, Mr Reiner said he can\u2019t stop thinking about \u201chow frightened\u201d his parents must have been when they were killed and that the couple \u201cwere the last people in the world to deserve what happened to them\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey should be enjoying the rest of their lives peacefully while growing older together,\u201d he added about the couple, who were married since 1989.<\/p>\n

\u201cInstead, that was ripped away from them, from me, from Romy, and there was nothing we could do about it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Later in the essay, Mr Reiner called his parents\u2019 murders \u201chorrific\u201d and said that every day since then \u201chas been horrendous\u201d.<\/p>\n

He eventually referenced Nick by saying that his brother is \u201cat the centre\u201d of the tragedy.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe lost more than half of our family that night in the most violent way imaginable,\u201d Jake Reiner wrote. \u201cIt\u2019s almost too impossible to process.\u201d<\/p>\n

He acknowledged that \u201cpeople have questions\u201d about Rob and Michele\u2019s deaths and promised that \u201csome of those answers will come in time\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut some parts of this belong only to our family,\u201d he continued, \u201cand keeping them private is the only way to protect what little remains of something that was taken from us\u201d.<\/p>\n

On Instagram, Mr Reiner explained that he shared the essay one week before his \u201cfirst birthday without my parents.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI consider myself lucky to have had them by my side for the past 34 years,\u201d he added, before imploring his followers to read his full essay.<\/p>\n
