{"id":628828,"date":"2026-04-24T23:23:09","date_gmt":"2026-04-24T23:23:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/628828\/"},"modified":"2026-04-24T23:23:09","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T23:23:09","slug":"royal-challengers-bengaluru-defeat-gujarat-titans-virat-kohli-fifty-sai-sudharsan-century-video-highlights-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/628828\/","title":{"rendered":"Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeat Gujarat Titans, Virat Kohli fifty, Sai Sudharsan century, video, highlights, news"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Virat Kohli punished Gujarat Titans for dropping him on nought with a blistering half-century as Royal Challengers Bengaluru breezed to a five-wicket victory in the Indian Premier League on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Left-handed opener Sai Sudharsan\u2019s third IPL hundred was the cornerstone of Gujarat\u2019s 3-205 on being put in by Rajat Patidar at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.<\/p>\n<p>But Kohli (81) and Devdutt Padikkal (55) tore into the bowling during a rollicking 115-run second-wicket stand to delight a full house in Bengaluru\u2019s final league match of the season at this venue.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"i-amphtml-fill-content i-amphtml-replaced-content\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/1776909012_441_poster-fallback.png\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Get all the latest cricket news, highlights and analysis delivered straight to your inbox with Fox Sports Sportmail. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com.au\/newsletter-sign-up?utm_source=CricketArticle&amp;utm_medium=TextLink&amp;utm_campaign=signup\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Sign up now &gt;<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Kohli was put down by Washington Sundar at mid-wicket off the first ball he faced from Mohammed Siraj, in the first over of the chase, and made Gujarat pay for their largesse with a thrilling exhibition of stroke-making.<\/p>\n<p>Bengaluru lost Englishman Jacob Bethell, playing his first game of the season in place of injured compatriot Phil Salt, in the third over.<\/p>\n<p>That was the cue for Kohli and Padikkal to put on a delightful exhibition of stroke-making, marked by timing and silken grace rather than raw power.<\/p>\n<p>Rangy left-hander Padikkal did the early running with a stunning array of sixes as he used his long levers to great effect, with Kohli only marginally behind.<\/p>\n<p>Padikkal was the first to his half-century, off 20 deliveries, while Kohli took 30 balls to reach the landmark before the former was bowled by Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChasing 200 in the Chinnaswamy, we were just one partnership away,\u201d Kohli remarked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou never see him (Padikkal) slogging the ball, yet he\u2019s playing so freely.
