<\/p>\nSA Police say initial investigations suggest a person whose decomposed body has been found in bushland south of Adelaide was murdered.<\/p>\n
They have declared the death a major crime.<\/p>\n
The body was discovered by a bushwalker who was looking at wildlife in the area at about 5:30pm on Friday.<\/p>\n

Detective Inspector Andrew Macrae said the “very decomposed” body was found about five or six metres down an embankment off the side of a track off Mount Alma Road at Inman Valley on the Fleurieu Peninsula.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He said initial investigations suggested the person was murdered and then left at the scene several years ago.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“The circumstances in which we found it make us very confident that the person was unfortunately murdered,” he said.<\/p>\n

Inspector Macrae said forensic testing would be conducted in an attempt to determine the potential identity of the victim.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“I’m confident it won’t take too long \u2026 so I’m expecting that will hopefully take within a few days,” he said.<\/p>\n
The detective said one of the lines of inquiry would include looking at a potential link to Taskforce Southern<\/a> \u2014 an investigation into the alleged southern suburbs drug-related murders of Trevor King, Robert Atkins and Jeff Mundy.<\/p>\n “Just because of the geography, it’s one of the considerations we will be looking at,” Inspector MacRae said.<\/p>\n Only one person has been charged over one of the murders<\/a> \u2014 that of Mr Atkins.<\/p>\n
