{"id":629662,"date":"2026-04-25T09:04:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-25T09:04:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/629662\/"},"modified":"2026-04-25T09:04:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-25T09:04:08","slug":"is-ex-red-bull-f1-team-boss-christian-horner-eyeing-a-move-into-motogp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/629662\/","title":{"rendered":"Is ex-Red Bull F1 team boss Christian Horner eyeing a move into MotoGP?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ex-Red Bull Formula 1 team boss Christian Horner says MotoGP is going through \u201ca really interesting time\u201d under new ownership, as he makes an intriguing visit to Jerez.<\/p>\n<p>Horner served as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/f1\/teams\/red-bull-racing\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Red Bull\u2019<\/a>s team principal in F1 from its debut in 2005 until 2025, with the Briton helming the squad through four world titles with Sebastian Vettel and four with Max Verstappen.<\/p>\n<p>The veteran team boss was ousted from his role midway through 2025, amid declining results for Red Bull as well as rising tensions within the camp and an investigation into inappropriate behaviour in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Horner has been linked to a return to F1 through the purchase of a stake in Alpine, though this looks like a harder avenue now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/f1\/news\/1091086\/1\/toto-wolffchristian-horner-f1-rivalry-new-twist-over-alpine-investment\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">amid Mercedes interest in the same acquisition.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>He noted earlier this year that he had \u201cunfinished business\u201d in F1.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>Could Horner make a move into MotoGP?<\/p>\n<p>Horner has now caused a stir with a rare appearance to the MotoGP paddock on Saturday at the Spanish Grand Prix.<\/p>\n<p>Liberty Media\u2019s ownership of MotoGP has brought it under the same umbrella as F1, with greater investment opportunities in the two-wheel series emerging as a result.<\/p>\n<p>The most notable example of this is ex-Haas F1 team boss Guenther Steiner heading a consortium that bought Tech3 for \u20ac20m last year.<\/p>\n<p>Horner, who is visiting Jerez with F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali, was asked by the MotoGP world feed if making a similar move was something he is considering.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, I\u2019ve always been a big fan of MotoGP and while I\u2019ve got a little bit of time, I thought it was a good opportunity to come down and have a look at the championship,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously, it\u2019s under new ownership now, in common with Formula 1, and it\u2019s great to see the bikes and how they\u2019ve evolved.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was last at a MotoGP race, I think, in Estoril in 2005, so it\u2019s been a while.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s a really interesting time for MotoGP. It\u2019s going through a period of change under new ownership as well. So, I wanted to come here and see a little bit for myself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added: \u201cI mean, it\u2019s great racing, it\u2019s a great show.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe riders are incredible, the bikes are incredible. It\u2019s only when you get to see it live that you appreciate how insane these machines are.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think as a sport, it has so much to offer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, hopefully the Liberty guys, with the experience they have in Formula 1 will be able to lean into that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know Stefano [Domenicali] is very passionate, I\u2019m here with him today.
