Season 2 of Happy’s Place<\/a> just went out with a heart-wrenching bang as the will-they-won’t-they between Bobbie (Reba McEntire<\/a>) and Emmett (Rex Linn<\/a>) continues.<\/p>\n

Happy’s Place’s Season 2 (“Couples Counseling”) was a wild watch as several characters found themselves at romantic crossroads. After previously cutting things off with Emmett<\/a>, Bobbie came clean that she still had feelings for her charming head chef. Meanwhile, Emmett has been exploring a new romance with Cheri Oteri’s hysterical health inspector Monica<\/a>, but revealed in the Season 2 finale that he couldn’t see Monica as more than a friend.<\/p>\n

There were many revelations made throughout the episode, which guest-starred both Oteri and Modern Family star Eric Stonestreet<\/a> as the couples therapist who inspired some heavy conversations. Here’s what happened:<\/p>\n

Bobbie came clean about lingering feelings for Emmett<\/p>\n

After navigating some workplace conflicts, Isabella (Belissa Escobedo<\/a>) dragged a dubious Bobbie to a couples counselor in hopes of getting to the bottom of some of their repressed issues this season. After previously learning that Emmett knew about the affair between Bobbie’s late father and Isabella’s mother, Bobbie broke up with Emmett and proceeded to bottle up the sadness surrounding the betrayal. Bobbie and Isabella’s run-in with Eric Stonestreet’s Dr. Russell Peabody III<\/a> wasn’t the most empathetic session, but it got them talking.<\/p>\n

Bobbie confessed to Isabella that she had broken up with Emmett due to him serving as a reminder of her father’s secret life. Still, Bobbie had feelings for Emmett after previously planning to tell him she loved him, and that affection hadn’t faded, even as Emmett tried to date other people. Isabella encouraged Bobbie to talk to Emmett and tell him how she felt, and Bobbie agreed.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Emmett told Bobbie that he’s done dating: “That’s it for me”<\/p>\n

While Bobbie was having her own reflections, Emmett, meanwhile, navigated the difficult task of telling Monica that he only wanted to be friends. While enjoying a nice dinner with Monica, who remained smitten, Emmett broke things off. Monica was devastated, making quite a humorous scene while vocally freaking out at the restaurant. Emmett was utterly mortified, feeling wretched over breaking Monica’s heart.<\/p>\n

Just as Bobbie visited Emmett’s kitchen to come clean about her feelings for him, she found Emmett in his own turmoil. Before Bobbie could open up, Emmett told Bobbie how horrible he felt breaking Monica’s heart, just as Bobbie had broken his. Emmett had decided that he was done with romance, reflecting on his “solid” lifestyle before he ever started dating.<\/p>\n

“I broke that girl’s heart, Bobbie. Just like you broke mine,” Emmett said with sadness.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“I know I did, and I’m sorry,” Bobbie admitted. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Emmett then shocked Bobbie when he said, “That’s it for me, I’m done with dating. From now on, I just want to be solid.”<\/p>\n

“Then I want that for you too,” Bobbie said, leaving the office to find Isabella, who heard the whole thing.<\/p>\n

“What are you going to do?” Isabella asked.<\/p>\n

“Same thing he did for me: give him time,” Bobbie said sadly.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As somewhat of a romance expert after playing the hysterical couples therapist on Happy’s Place, Stonestreet tells NBC Insider that he has a “good feeling” about Bobbie and Emmett’s fate despite these setbacks.<\/p>\n

“I was just blown away by some of the realness of the dialogue between them and the beauty of the things that they said to each other,” Stonestreet said. “They’re showing what it’s like to be an adult, be experienced in relationships, and know how to navigate treacherous waters in the most respectful and best way for them. So I have a good feeling for them.”<\/p>\n

Happy’s Place fans will have to wait for Season 3<\/a> to find out how Emmett and Bobbie navigate this next chapter.
