{"id":630555,"date":"2026-04-25T19:30:18","date_gmt":"2026-04-25T19:30:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/630555\/"},"modified":"2026-04-25T19:30:18","modified_gmt":"2026-04-25T19:30:18","slug":"former-nct-member-lucas-officially-ends-contract-with-sm-entertainment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/630555\/","title":{"rendered":"Former NCT member Lucas officially ends contract with SM Entertainment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">SEOUL &#8211; Lucas, a former member of K-pop boy band NCT, has ended his exclusive contract with SM Entertainment, the agency announced on April 24.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">In a statement released via global fan community Weverse, the South Korean entertainment agency said its contract with the 27-year-old Hong Kong artiste \u201cofficially concluded as of April 24\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">\u201cWe sincerely thank fans for the great love and support they have shown Lucas,\u201d the company said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">\u201cWe will cherish the time we have shared with Lucas, from his trainee days to his various activities following his debut, and we will support his new endeavours going forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Lucas debuted in 2018 as a member of NCT and their Chinese sub-unit WayV. The rapper-singer later <a href=\"https:\/\/www.straitstimes.com\/life\/entertainment\/ncts-lucas-wong-on-hiatus-after-being-accused-of-taking-advantage-of-female-fans?ref=inline-article\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" class=\"gap-x-04 items-center inline text-primary-60 select-auto\" aria-label=\"link\" target=\"_blank\" data-testid=\"custom-link\">suspended activities under NCT<\/a> after being embroiled in a scandal involving allegations of gaslighting, cheating and manipulative behaviour toward multiple women who claimed to be his ex-girlfriends, eventually announcing his departure from the groups in May 2023.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Since then, he has pursued a solo career, releasing the EP Renegade in April 2024.
