Australia\u2019s Jeff Horn is one of the nation\u2019s greatest boxers in the modern era.<\/p>\n

The now 38-year-old rose to prominence out of nowhere after upsetting the legendary Manny Pacquiao in Brisbane to win the WBO welterweight title in 2017.<\/p>\n

Even if the former school teacher lost that belt one year later to Terence Crawford in Las Vegas after one successful defence against Gary Corcoran, his place in boxing history was secured.<\/p>\n

He\u2019d take six more fights after climbing that Pacquiao mountain, and it was his 24th and final fight against fellow Australian Tim Tszyu in 2020 when Horn knew he was done.<\/p>\n

Horn says the realisation came to him during the fight that it was time to step away with a record of 20-3-1.<\/p>\n

\u201cI felt when I was in that fight with Tim, I was like, \u2018I don’t have the passion anymore\u2019,\u201d Horn told This is Your Journey \u2013 thanks to Tobin Brothers.<\/p>\n

\u201cI knew I didn’t want to win as bad as he did when I was in there with him. That’s a big sign, I guess, but for a while there I was like, \u2018I didn’t want to finish on that\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, I was like, \u2018Maybe I’ll go back again and take another fight if they\u2019re offering me a million bucks to come back and fight again\u2019, but that never happened.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt wasn’t like I was saying I was done in the moment, but I knew he wanted it more than I did.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was younger and hungrier, and I knew at that point, even though I didn’t kind of voice it after the fact, I could feel I didn’t have the hunger anymore to fight the way I used to and put my body on the line.\u201d<\/p>\n

As one of Australia\u2019s biggest boxing names, promoters were always going to try and bring him out of retirement.<\/p>\n

So how much exactly was he offered to get back in the ring?<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, I guess I said if someone gave me a million bucks to come back, I would have considered it,\u201d Horn said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut they went just a little bit lower, they offered me $750,000 to come back, and I was just like, \u2018Nah, not doing it\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, I did have that carrot dangled, and they thought I was probably going to budge just a little bit, but I was done.<\/p>\n

\u201cI knew what my limit was.\u201d<\/p>\n
