CINCINNATI, Ohio \u2013 The Cleveland State women’s tennis team earned a spot in the 2026 Horizon League Championship match, picking up a 4-3 victory over Oakland in Saturday’s semifinal contest.<\/p>\n

Sunday’s championship match appearance will be the fourth straight trip to the title contest for the Vikings.<\/p>\n

After dropping the early doubles point, the Vikings were able to even the score at 1-1 following a win from Leah Geisz<\/a> at No. 6 singles, as she cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 victory.<\/p>\n

Oakland answered with a win at the No. 3 spot, before Ella Franz<\/a> knotted the contest at 2-2 with a 7-6(1), 6-3 victory at the top of the lineup.<\/p>\n

After the Grizzlies once again responded with a win at No. 4 singles, Anna Mancino<\/a> notched a 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 come-from-behind win at the No. 2 spot to put the score at 3-3 with the No. 5 court remaining.<\/p>\n

Cleveland State’s Laura Tapia<\/a> picked up a 6-4 win during the opening set at No. 5 singles, before dropping the second to force a third and deciding frame. Tapia then battled for a 7-5 win during the third set, clinching the 4-3 semifinal victory for the Vikings.<\/p>\n
