Two-time F1 champion Fernando Alonso has hinted that the 2026 F1 season will not be his final campaign racing on the grid.<\/p>\n
Alonso has long refused to commit to his F1 future beyond this year, having targeted the regulation change as a chance to compete at the front of the grid once more.<\/p>\n
However, a disastrous start to the year for the Aston Martin-Honda project has seen it languish at the back of the field.<\/p>\n
The struggles have led to suggestions that Alonso’s exit from the sport could be hastened by Aston Martin’s form.<\/p>\n
But speaking at Monaco historic grand prix, Alonso insisted he is feeling no urge to walk away.<\/p>\n
“I love what I do,\u201d Alonso said. \u201cI love racing. I did my first race when I was three years [old], and I am 44, so 41 years of my life I have been behind a steering wheel.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cSo the moment I have to stop racing, it will be a very hard decision and difficult to accept.<\/p>\n
“The time will tell. I will feel it. At the moment, I don’t feel it is that time yet.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI feel competitive, I feel motivated, I feel happy when I drive. So, yeah, hopefully not the last season.”<\/p>\n
