Infamous nightclub Bar1 in Hillarys is days away from shutting its doors for the last time.<\/p>\n
In an Instagram post announcing the May 2 closure, Bar1 said it had \u201cnever just been a nightclub\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s been a home for generations of party people,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the last five years alone, nearly one million people have walked through those doors and created memories they\u2019ll talk about forever.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s something you can\u2019t manufacture. May 2 \u2014 we say goodbye.\u201d<\/p>\n
Owner Malcolm Pages said he was lucky enough to host incredible artists like British rapper Central Cee, DJ Hedex, Paul van Dyk and Judge Jules, but \u201cwhat truly made Bar1 was the feeling of it being home for so many locals\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s emotional closing this chapter, but it\u2019s also something I\u2019m incredibly proud of, from 2020 (until) 2025, we were the busiest nightclub in Perth, every weekend, Bar1 had its era, and what an era it was,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo everyone who ever walked through those doors, thank you for making it an icon.\u201d<\/p>\n
Boasting the likes of Ne-Yo, Nelly and Darude, Bar1 \u2014 which was rebranded from its former name Bar120 \u2014 has remained popular with younger punters over its three-decade-long history.<\/p>\n
It has garnered a reputation as the haunt of young eshays and other unruly characters.<\/p>\n
The club has also famously banned red sneakers to target a \u201ccertain style of person\u201d attending its venue.<\/p>\n
