Dean Cain found himself reliving a late-night takedown on camera last night when Piers Morgan<\/a> made him sit through a Last Week Tonight with John Oliver<\/a> segment mocking his work and recent decision to join U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).<\/p>\n

On Monday\u2019s episode of Piers Morgan Uncensored, Morgan cued up Oliver\u2019s bit from Sunday\u2019s Last Week Tonight, in which the host ridiculed Cain for becoming an ICE recruit. <\/p>\n

\u201cOn the plus side, no need for that guy to wear a mask because the chances of anyone recognizing him are f*cking zero.\u201d Oliver joked. \u201cYou know, there\u2019s an old saying in Hollywood. If all you can get is Dean Cain, you are f*cked. I\u2019m not saying that ICE isn\u2019t finding people, I\u2019m just saying when you are reduced to pinning a badge on the 59-year-old star of The Dog Who Saved Christmas, The Dog Who Saved Christmas Vacation, The Dog Who Saved the Holidays, The Dog Who Saved Halloween, The Dog Who Saved Easter, and The Dog Who Saved Summer, maybe you are in trouble.\u201d<\/p>\n

After the clip rolled, Morgan turned to his guest and asked for his response.<\/p>\n

Cain shot back with a laugh: \u201cWhy does John Oliver hate dogs? So I did a lot of dog movies. Yeah, I\u2019ve done over 200 movies. You know, I\u2019ve done tons of films and thousands of hours of television. Um, John Oliver<\/a> is making a point, I guess, that I\u2019m 59 years old and I\u2019ve joined ICE.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued by inviting critics to take their best shot. \u201cGo ahead and denigrate my career, which is weird \u2014 it\u2019s an odd thing to do \u2014 but what I\u2019m doing is I\u2019m standing up for the men and women of ICE,\u201d Cain said.<\/p>\n

The former Lois & Clark star pointed to his long-running ties to law enforcement. \u201cI\u2019m a sworn deputy sheriff, I\u2019m a reserve police officer, I have been for almost a decade now,\u201d he noted, adding that ICE agents are \u201cbeing vilified, they\u2019re being attacked, they\u2019re being doxed, and they\u2019re out there trying to do their job.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re doing the job that the American people hired them for, that Congress wrote the laws for, they\u2019re doing it very, very well,\u201d Cain continued. He recalled initially appearing in a recruitment video that sparked speculation he had officially joined ICE. \u201cEverybody thought that I actually joined ICE, and then after the hullabaloo I spoke with some ICE officials and I said, \u2018You know what, why not swear me in? Let\u2019s do this.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, he says, \u201cI\u2019m 100% proud to stand with our agents of ICE. I love these people. They\u2019re wonderful men and women and husbands and fathers of every ethnicity, every race, every background.\u201d Cain also claimed the agency has seen \u201cover 100,000, or close to 100,000 applicants now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cain wrapped up by pointing out he\u2019s not just taking flak from Oliver. \u201cYou can make the cheap jibes, and it\u2019s funny, and Bill Maher did it and a couple of our congressmen did it too, but you know, the fact that I\u2019m being pilloried or attacked for joining up with a federal law enforcement agency is insane. I did it to protect Americans and men and women of ICE.\u201d<\/p>\n
