Hollywood star Rebel Wilson<\/a> has rejected an \u201cabsolutely outrageous\u201d accusation that she dumped her phone to avoid handing over key communications in a defamation case.<\/p>\n

The Pitch Perfect star is being sued by Charlotte MacInnes, the 27-year-old lead actor of the musical comedy The Deb.<\/p>\n

MacInnes alleges she was defamed by Wilson in social media posts that suggested she is a liar who retracted a sexual harassment complaint to further her acting and music career.<\/p>\n

Wilson claims MacInnes confided that she felt uncomfortable after the film\u2019s co-producer Amanda Ghost asked her to have a shower and a bath together in September 2023.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was pretty shocked by it,\u201d Wilson told the federal court on Wednesday. \u201cI took it as a sexual harassment complaint.\u201d<\/p>\n

She was in the witness box for a second day on Wednesday after repeatedly rejecting accusations she was lying or that she had bullied and harassed MacInnes.<\/p>\n

The Bridesmaids star told the court her phone had been stolen in London so she was unable to hand over some crucial communications requested by MacInnes\u2019 legal team.<\/p>\n

Wilson said some of her text chains hadn\u2019t been backed up so she was unable to retrieve and surrender them.<\/p>\n

\u201cAre you sure your phone was stolen and you didn\u2019t just dump it in a park?\u201d MacInnes\u2019 lawyer Sue Chrysanthou SC asked.<\/p>\n

Wilson\u2019s lawyer, Dauid Sibtain SC, objected to the question but not before his client answered.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat is absolutely outrageous,\u201d the actor said.<\/p>\n

Wilson was also questioned about a text message exchange she had with MacInnes in May 2023, after inviting her to a theatre production with other cast members of The Deb.<\/p>\n

The young actor blamed a lack of wi-fi for her lack of response to Wilson and explained she had ended up dining with Ghost instead, the texts show.<\/p>\n

\u201cHuge apologies again for last night,\u201d MacInnes texted the next day.<\/p>\n

\u201cI appreciate the apology,\u201d Wilson replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the future, it is terribly rude to say you wanted a ticket to a show and then you don\u2019t reply or follow up \u2026 not a great start to our working relationship.\u201d<\/p>\n

MacInnes apologised again and praised the older actor as \u201cnothing short of wonderful\u201d.<\/p>\n

Wilson rejected suggestions from Chrysanthou that the text was utterly inappropriate, bullying or \u201cover the top\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t regard one text message as bullying,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The star previously told the court that work on The Deb had been under way for years when MacInnes made a complaint about feeling uncomfortable with Ghost.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a fun girl-power movie and the worst thing that could have fallen into my lap at that point was a sexual harassment complaint,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The conversation allegedly occurred a day after MacInnes shared a bath with Ghost in their swimwear in a bid to warm up after the producer suffered a medical episode at Bondi beach.<\/p>\n

MacInnes denies making a complaint to Wilson and insists she never said she felt uncomfortable.<\/p>\n

Wilson says she asked the young actor if she was alright and reported the matter to another producer before escalating it higher at a later date.<\/p>\n

Wilson is expected to be grilled about the aftermath of the alleged complaint as her evidence continues.<\/p>\n

In her affidavit, the first-time director wrote that she overheard the producer and young actor saying things of a sexual nature to each other, which MacInnes has rejected as false.<\/p>\n

It is likely Wilson will face questioning about a claim MacInnes made in her own sworn statement that the older actor had directed a cyber-attack<\/a> on her social media accounts.<\/p>\n

MacInnes alleges her Snapchat account was breached<\/a> and there was an attempted breach of her Facebook account days after she filed legal proceedings against Wilson in September.<\/p>\n

The hack led to a nude photo of her being leaked to all of her contacts, she claims.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe that this was orchestrated by Rebel,\u201d she wrote in her affidavit.<\/p>\n

As of Wednesday morning, evidence to support the claim had not been aired in open court and Wilson was yet to be asked about it.<\/p>\n

As Wilson entered the courthouse on Wednesday, she revealed she was preoccupied with her heavily pregnant wife and the impending birth of her second child.<\/p>\n
