Why would I do that?\u2019\u201d Bazzana said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just had this inkling the last couple of months that I felt like that would be special to start my career.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s my favourite kind of iconic Australian song and it\u2019s a clich\u00e9, but I think it\u2019s a good start.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Travis Bazzana of the Cleveland Guardians.Source: Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Bazzana was the first overall pick from the 2024 MLB draft, becoming the first Australian player to achieve he feat.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com.au\/baseball\/mlb-2026-australian-former-first-overall-pick-travis-bazzana-called-up-by-cleveland-guardians-replaces-juan-brito-triplea-stats\/news-story\/9675c43a6a7d4c03db440c6400e571cc\" title=\"www.foxsports.com.au\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">He was called up from Triple-A Columbus to make his debut<\/a>, batting .287 with two home runs, 10 RBIs and eight stolen bases across 24 games for the team this season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy mum was smiling and crying at the same time,\u201d Bazzana told reporters ahead of the game.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVery excited, very emotional, and my dad was shocked and just very excited.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added: \u201cIt\u2019s crazy. It\u2019s one of those moments where you kind of look back and think back to the kid version of yourself, dreaming of it.
