US Open<\/a> champion Raducanu appeared to fall ill during her run to the final of the Transylvania Open, with her vitals monitored as she lost the championship match to Sorana Cirstea. Despite this, she pressed on to the Middle East, competing in her opening match in Doha just two days later, before retiring in the third set.<\/p>\nThe 23-year-old then dropped her first match in Dubai a week later, advanced one round in Indian Wells, before suffering a crushing 6-1, 6-1 defeat to Amanda Anisimova \u2014 a match that took place more than seven weeks ago, marking her last competitive outing.<\/p>\n
Her string of withdrawals has fueled speculation surrounding her fitness and the persistent illness. However, the world No. 27 has now offered a reassuring update via an Instagram comment.<\/p>\n
Following a photo dump posted by Raducanu on Tuesday afternoon, one fan commented: “I can’t wait to see you back out on court soon. I hope you’re feeling a lot better now.”<\/p>\n
The British star responded simply: “Much better thank you x.”<\/p>\n
It is anticipated that Raducanu will make her competitive return at the Italian Open next week. Despite withdrawing from the WTA 1000 event in Madrid, reports indicate that the British No. 1 had resumed training and was targeting a comeback in Rome. The French Open gets underway on May 24. Raducanu has never advanced beyond the second round in Paris, but if she can mount a successful comeback at the Italian Open, she should be in contention at Roland Garros as well.<\/p>\n
