St Kilda coach Ross Lyon has fired back at \u201chalf-baked\u201d reports around senior players wanting out and the club\u2019s rumoured $25 million play to Harley Reid.<\/p>\n

Speculation is rife on growing unrest among the Saints\u2019 senior players amid the club\u2019s big-money trade bids for the likes of Tom De Koning and Leek Aleer, with the likes of Jack Steele, Callum Wilkie and Rowan Marshall thought to be assessing their own options.<\/p>\n

It included South Australian reporter Michelangelo Rucci on SEN radio reported the likes of Steele, Wilkie, Marshall and Marcus Windhager could be part of a Saints exodus<\/a> as the club has \u201cbeen actively looking to spend money.\u201d<\/p>\n

But Lyon moved to refute such claims on Nine\u2019s Footy Classified, with the Saints coach even revealing he spoke to Wilkie on the phone to clarify the All-Australian\u2019 defender\u2019s future. <\/p>\n

\u201c6.30 tonight, in my car, in my driveway, (Wilkie said): \u2018Ross I\u2019ve never entertained going anywhere else, I love St Kilda, I love what we\u2019re doing\u2019,\u201d Lyon said on Tuesday night\u2019s Footy Classified.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of half-baked stories, that\u2019s what I see.<\/p>\n

\u201cI heard the (Michaelangelo) Rucci stuff. I thought it was two old blokes having a beer and a barbecue in the backyard … there was no substance, no rigour. I was like: \u2018Ruc, you send me postcards from Italy herding the sheep and counting the sheep.\u2019<\/p>\n

It came as Essendon legend Tim Watson suggested the Saints had made a \u2018Godfather offer\u2019 to Eagles young gun Reid<\/a> worth a whopping $25 million over $12 years in a rumour that got tongues wagging. <\/p>\n

But Lyon also downplayed St Kilda\u2019s link to the former No. 1 pick. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve never spoken to Harley Reid in my life… I love Tim, but he got this one wrong,\u201d Lyon said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe (Eagles) CEO, Don Pyke, who we all love and respect, is frustrated at their end for whatever reason for Harley and negotiations.<\/p>\n

\u201cClearly they think there\u2019s something out in the ether that\u2019s getting in their way. Well, it certainly isn\u2019t me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile Lyon said he was \u201cconcerned like everybody else\u201d regarding Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera\u2019s future, with the Saints \u201cdoing everything we can\u201d as the rising superstar weighs up a return to South Australia.<\/p>\n

But the St Kilda boss embraced the challenge of locking away Wanganeen-Milera\u2019s signature. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m excited we\u2019ve got this problem,\u201d Lyon said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt 22, a player to come through at 22 years of age … it\u2019s a great problem to have.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re either good enough to get it done, or you\u2019re not.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy job is to coach, the list management do their piece. It\u2019s obviously high level and important. But we\u2019ll continue to back ourselves in until we know otherwise.<\/p>\n
