Tristan Thompson has filed for conservatorship over his younger brother Amari.<\/a><\/p>\n

The NBA athlete, 35, filed to be Amari\u2019s limited conservator on Monday, in documents obtained by Page Six. Per the docs, Amari, 19, is \u201cunable to properly provide for his personal needs for physical health, food, clothing or shelter,\u201d and \u201csuffers from an intellectual disability and developmental delay.\u201d<\/p>\n

The docs also note Amari is \u201cunable to manage his financial resources or to resist fraud or undue influence.\u201d<\/p>\n

Amari, the docs state, is unable to comment on the selection of a conservator \u201cdue to his developmental delay and intellectual disability.\u201d<\/p>\n

Amari has LGS [Lennox-Gastaut syndrome], a severe form of childhood epilepsy that causes multiple types of seizures that can lead to permanent brain damage, resulting in learning difficulties and other disabilities, according to the Cleveland Clinic.<\/a><\/p>\n

In February 2024, Tristan became Amari\u2019s legal guardian<\/a> following the\u00a0death of their mother<\/a>, Andrea. At the time, Amari was 17 years old.<\/p>\n

Tristan claimed their father, Trevor, played no role in raising Amari since 2014, in docs obtained by Page Six..<\/p>\n

The judge ruled at the time that a reunion between Amari and Trevor was \u201cnot viable due to neglect, abandonment under California law.\u201d<\/p>\n

Amari has appeared on \u201cKeeping Up With the Kardashians\u201d due to Tristan\u2019s relationship with his ex Khlo\u00e9 Kardashian. Khlo\u00e9 spoke about becoming Amari\u2019s primary caretaker<\/a> in July 2025.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is severely disabled. \u2026 He can\u2019t walk or talk,\u201d she said on her\u00a0\u201cKhlo\u00e9 in Wonder Land\u201d podcast.<\/p>\n

Khlo\u00e9 explained that due to Tristan\u2019s busy travel schedule in the NBA, she decided to keep Amari with her in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

\u201cAmari has a handful of seizures a day with the type of epilepsy that he has,\u201d she shared. \u201cI have chosen to take care of him and be there for him because it\u2019s not good that he travels.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cCalifornia weather is so good for Amari and I just love having Amari be a part of my family,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

The mother of two also noted that having Amari around is \u201cimportant\u201d for her children with Tristan \u2014 daughter True, 8, and son Tatum, 3 \u2014 as well as her kids, nieces and nephews<\/a>, so that they can be\u00a0exposed to all different types of people in the world<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it teaches everyone compassion, understanding,\u201d she explained. \u201cIt opens up their minds to seeing, \u2018Wow, Amari is disabled, sure, but he\u2019s also just like us at the same time.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe just want to provide Amari with the best, most beautiful life that we know how.
