top gongs at the Australian music industry\u2019s APRA awards.<\/p>\n<p>Jerkin\u2019, the opening track from the band\u2019s third studio album, Cartoon Darkness, has won the prestigious peer-voted class=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smh.com.au\/culture\/music\/how-amyl-and-the-sniffers-star-found-herself-in-a-legal-stoush-with-a-us-photographer-20260210-p5o16m.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Amy Taylor<\/a> also took home the Songwriter of the Year award for the second year running.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLast time I checked, I\u2019ve got success,\u201d sings Taylor in Jerkin\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Too right \u2013 but it\u2019s one of the very few lines from the high-energy diss track that could be quoted in mainstream media, because the rest are full of swear Sydney\u2019s Hordern Pavilion on Wednesday night, with performances by Paul Kelly, Christine Anu, Ngulmiya and Rob Ruha.<\/p>\n<p>The star-studded evening also celebrated 100 years of APRA, the Australasian Performing Right Association, which was founded in 1926 and collects music royalties for artists.<\/p>\n<p>Tributes were paid to the late Midnight Oil founder and drummer Rob Hirst, who died in January at the age of 70.<\/p>\n<p>The Presets performed their version of the Oils\u2019 1982 hit Power and the Passion, with a guest appearance by Peter Garrett.<\/p>\n<p>Related Article<a src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/706447cddded4a8fccfe7d33e93020a43d8b7479.jpeg\"  class=\"sc-d34e428-1 ioInpc\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sia\u2019s hit track Unstoppable showed it was just that, with the artist winning Most Performed Australian Work Overseas for the third consecutive year.<\/p>\n<p>The win means Sia has more APRA awards than any other songwriter, with 14 gongs to her name.<\/p>\n<p>The hit track Maybe, by <a class=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smh.com.au\/lifestyle\/life-and-relationships\/some-would-say-i-handled-it-terribly-guy-and-jules-sebastian-on-their-biggest-battle-20260224-p5o55i.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Guy Sebastian<\/a> and his co-writers Ned Houston and Robby De Sa, took out Most Performed Australian Work and Most Performed Pop Work.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, hit-making songwriter Sarah Aarons, who has worked with K-pop boy band <a class=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smh.com.au\/culture\/music\/the-one-big-question-looming-over-the-return-of-k-pop-superstars-bts-20260330-p5zjro.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">BTS<\/a> as well as Flume and Tame Impala, took out her sixth APRA gong with an International Recognition Award.<\/p>\n<p>Rock band INXS was recognised with the prestigious Ted Albert Award for Outstanding
