On Wednesday, the New York Yankees<\/a> played the Texas Rangers<\/a> (in Arlington) for the finale of their three-game series.<\/p>\n

The Yankees lost by a score of 3-0.<\/p>\n

They still won the series 2-1.<\/p>\n

Recent Yankee Is Still An MLB Free Agent\"\"<\/p>\n

With the season already one month in, it\u2019s worth noting that a recent Yankees player (from last year) is still a free agent.<\/p>\n

Tyler Matzek<\/a> is currently available<\/a> to sign with any team in the league.<\/p>\n

He finished last season with a 4.26 ERA in seven games for the Yankees.<\/p>\n

Matzek\u2019s MLB Career\"\"<\/p>\n

Matzek was initially the 11th pick in the 2009 MLB<\/a> Draft.<\/p>\n

He spent the first two seasons of his career playing for the Colorado Rockies<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In that span, Matzek went 8-12 with a 4.06 ERA in 25 games.<\/p>\n

After being out of the MLB from 2015-19, Matzek returned (in 2020) with the Atlanta Braves.<\/p>\n

He spent part of four seasons with the franchise, helping them win the 2021 World Series Championship.<\/p>\n

In 2024, Matzek was traded (via the Braves) to the San Francisco Giants<\/a> (but he did not play in a game for the franchise).<\/p>\n

The <\/a>Giants<\/a> wrote (via X) on July 29, 2024:<\/a> \u201cThe San Francisco Giants acquired minor league IF Sabin Ceballos and LHP Tyler Matzek from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for DH Jorge Soler<\/a> and RHP Luke Jackson<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

#SFGiants<\/a> Roster Moves:<\/p>\n

The San Francisco Giants acquired minor league IF Sabin Ceballos and LHP Tyler Matzek from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for DH Jorge Soler and RHP Luke Jackson.<\/p>\n

Over 175 career games, Matzek has gone 16-21 with a 3.73 ERA.<\/p>\n

At his age (35), it will be interesting to see if another team takes a chance on him this season.<\/p>\n

They are 12-6 in 18 games on the road (and 8-5 in 13 games at home).<\/p>\n

Following their series with the Rangers, the Yankees will be off on Thursday.<\/p>\n

On Friday, they will return home to open up a series with the Baltimore Orioles<\/a>.<\/p>\n
