We’ve got it in, they’re clashing, and we should be all watching this!”

Hinkley, of course, is alluding to the fact the AFL once again chose not to schedule the Showdown as a standalone fixture – instead slotting it 40 minutes after Western Bulldogs-Fremantle kicked off at Marvel Stadium.

But anyone who tuned into the 59th Showdown in its entirety was treated to a seesawing spectacle of monumental proportions.

Port Adelaide was the more polished side to half-time, before a wasteful Adelaide outfit finally got going, booting five third-quarter goals to take an eight-point lead into the final change.

What ensued was pure chaos.

The Crows kicked the first two goals of the final term to burst 21 points clear at the five-minute mark, but Port Adelaide didn’t lay down, piling on the next four majors – including what we all thought was the mesmerising matchwinner by Joe Berry at the 29-minute mark.

Enter Brayden Cook, who whipped up the perfect dish with 10 seconds left – a running goal from tight on the far-side boundary.

“I’m shaking, and I’m not involved,” Hinkley said.

You wouldn’t have been blamed for thinking there was another twist coming, but not even the gallant Power could pull another rabbit out of the hat.

“I have no idea.
