A local fan page called Save Canberra United was also launched this week.

Football360.com.au understands that all options are being explored to give Canberra United every chance of being in the A-League Women’s next season, while the dream of an A-League Men’s side in Canberra, although not for next season, is not off the table either.

With the rising financial burden of fielding a women’s side, Capital Football announced earlier this season that it would no longer run Canberra United, and with no owner yet found, they ended their campaign with a clouded future, a situation Rosich and the APL are trying to solve.

“We’re in meaningful conversations with multiple parties, which we are working hard to progress,” Rosich told football360.com.au.

“Our focus is on securing a new, long-term owner for the club, and we will explore all other options with Capital Football and the ACT Government over the coming weeks.”

In light of Heyman’s comments and the ongoing commentary about the state of limbo the players, staff and fans have been left in, Rosich added: “We understand the urgency and that this is time-sensitive for players, partners and fans.

“We will provide a further update to the Canberra United community as soon as an outcome is reached.”

Following their elimination on the weekend, chief executive Samantha Farrow wrote on Canberra United’s website: “I know many in our community are disappointed with the decision for Capital Football to step away from operating Canberra United.

“This decision has not been taken lightly. Capital Football’s role is to lead and grow the game across Canberra and the region – from grassroots participation and local competitions to inclusive programs that ensure football is accessible to all, including all-abilities and powerchair football.

“Since Canberra United’s inception, Capital Football has proudly operated the club and has sustained that role longer than any other member federation. However, the professional landscape of the league has evolved significantly – with a longer season, increased demands and higher standards across all areas of the game. It is important that Canberra United’s future is led by those whose sole focus is the success and sustainability of the club.

“Please know that we are working behind the scenes and remain in close and regular contact with the APL as they progress current discussions with multiple parties regarding the potential sale of the Canberra United licence and a sustainable long-term future for the club.

“This club means too much to too many people. We have been working tirelessly towards its future, and we will continue to keep our community informed as soon as we are able to share more.”

Meanwhile, the futures of Central Coast Mariners and Western United could both come to a head in the next month.

While the APL is likely close to finalising a sale of the Mariners after taking over their license in January this year, currently considering local and international interest, Western United’s future is still uncertain.

The APL declined to comment on the recent movements at Western, but News Corp reported this week that ex-Wyndham councillor and Countryland Australia chief executive Intaj Khan is leading a bid to save the club.

“Under his proposal, Mr Khan intends to become chairman and revitalise the club’s shrinking membership base by bringing in local western suburbs businesses and the Indian community for support,” the report states.

It comes as June 16 looms as the next D-Day for Western United in court, the date for their next wind-up hearing.

This week, Dominance Enterprises lodged wind-up action in the Federal Court against WMG Football Club Ltd, the public company the A-League football club.

Australian Professional Leagues Chief Executive Steve Rosich says his organisation is exploring “all options” to ensure Canberra United’s…

[9
64,63,175116,85324,85,44066
post-643396","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-sports","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-canberra-united","tag-central-coast-mariners","tag-sports","tag-western-united
["GET
