\n\tAmy Allen<\/a> picked up ASCAP<\/a>\u2018s top honor in the pop field Thursday night, as the woman responsible for co-writing Sabrina Carpenter\u2019s top hits and other smashes was awarded with the songwriter of the year trophy at the ASCAP Pop Music Awards<\/a> in Hollywood.<\/p>\n

\n\tAllen earned the trophy on the strength of Carpenter hits like \u201cManchild,\u201d \u201cTears\u201d and \u201cBed Chem\u201d as well as Rose and Bruno Mars\u2019 \u201cAPT.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe don\u2019t have to worry about AI because of people like Amy Allen,\u201d said Jimmy Jam (pictured above with Allen), introducing her to the stage at the Chaplin Studios event.<\/p>\n

\n\tLaufey<\/a> was given a special honor, the ASCAP Creative Voice Award, as part of the evening, presented to her by Suki Waterhouse.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m looking around and I\u2019m seeing the word \u2018pop\u2019,\u201d Laufey said, \u201cand I loved pop music growing up, and I always knew that there was a way for me to find my space in pop music. I grew up loving classical, loving jazz, knowing that was the pop music of its time. And I had this dream to make it the pop music of now, of this decade, and I really feel that has happened \u2014 and especially tonight, I\u2019m really feeling it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSong of the year was awarded to \u201cDie With a Smile,\u201d the blockbuster duet between Mars and Lady Gaga, which had James Fauntleroy\u00a0as its ASCAP-affiliated co-writer. On the Billboard Hot 100, the song spent five weeks at No. 1 as part of a 60-week chart run. It was published by Warner Chappell.<\/p>\n

\n\tSony Music Publishing<\/a> was named ASCAP\u2019s pop music publisher of the year. The publisher\u2019s hits during the time frame included Alex Warren\u2019s \u201cOrdinary,\u201d Olivia Dean\u2019s \u201cMan I Need,\u201d Kehlani\u2019s \u201cFolded\u201d and Chappell Roan\u2019s \u201cPink Pony Club.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tOther winners included EJAE (\u201cGolden\u201d), Jack Antonoff (\u201cManchild,\u201d \u201cLuther,\u201d \u201cSquabble Up,\u201d \u201cTV Off\u201d), Cirkut (\u201cAbracadabra,\u201d \u201cAPT.\u201d), Justin Bieber (\u201cDaisies,\u201d \u201cYukon\u201d), Max Martin (\u201cThe Fate of Ophelia,\u201d \u201cDancing in the Flames,\u201d \u201cOpalite,\u201d \u201cTwilight Zone\u201d), Myles Smith (\u201cNice to Meet You\u201d), Ashley Gorley (\u201cLove Somebody\u201d), Audrey Hobert (\u201cThat\u2019s So True\u201d), Daniel Nigro (\u201cPink Pony Club\u201d), David Guetta (\u201cForever Young\u201d), Dijon \u201cMustard\u201d McFarlane (\u201cTV Off\u201d) and Timbaland (\u201cSticky\u201d).\u00a0<\/p>\n
