Looking at him, I\u2019m not sure \u2026 it\u2019s tricky\u201d.<\/p>\n In fact, Malignaggi said younger brother Nikita \u2013 who fights undefeated Spaniard Oscar Diaz in Newcastle next Wednesday night — would be more likely to thrive a weight higher.<\/p>\n While Tim Tszyu has no issue making the super welterweight limit, he has most recently taken on undefeated internationals Anthony Velazquez and Denis Nurja at a catchweight \u2013 hitting the scales for both at 71.3kg and 70.8kg respectively.<\/p>\n Tszyu sacks team & joins Fenech | 00:34<\/p>\n Despite winning both fights comfortably, questions were raised about the Australian\u2019s inability to finish either opponent.<\/p>\n Another issue is the fact that, since winning the WBO world title, Tszyu has twice been stopped at super welterweight since \u2013 albeit against the elite duo that is Sebastian Fundora and Bakhram Murtazaliev. <\/p>\n While Spence initially made his name in the welterweight division, his insistence on now fighting two divisions higher is understood to be centred around that sole loss of his storied career \u2013 a brutal 2023 beating by Terence Crawford.<\/p>\n There have long been suggestions in the aftermath to his Crawford fight that Spence\u2019s poor performance came off the back of being severely drained making the limit one more time.<\/p>\n His team were also quoted in the fallout stating that any rematch would have to be a division higher.<\/p>\n Errol Spence Jr is set to fight Tim TszyuSource: Getty Images<\/p>\n As a result, the Americans are determined to avoid a repeat, especially given Spence has since been out of the ring for three years.<\/p>\n Which is why \u2018The Truth\u2019 wanted his comeback fight at middleweight.<\/p>\n Yet the last time Tszyu fought so heavy?<\/p>\n You have to go all the way back to 2018, and just the eighth fight of his career, when the then Sydney prospect weighed 72.2kg against New Zealand\u2019s Ruben Webster.<\/p>\n Tszyu was also 73.3kg against Townsville\u2019s Christopher Khan a year earlier, his sixth fight.<\/p>\n Adding to the intrigue, Tszyu will also make preparations for Spence under new coach Jeff Fenech.<\/p>\n Tszyu & Fenech open up on Bombshell move | 22:53<\/p>\n When revealing the move to Main Event only last week, Tszyu also confirmed his desire to have his Hall of Fame father Kostya at the fight, and alongside the undisputed Godfather of Australian boxing, Johnny Lewis. <\/p>\n When initially asked to confirm the Fenech move in a text exchange with Fox Sports Australia, Tszyu responded to a question about why he was making the switch with one simple emoji \u2013 the Australian flag.<\/p>\n It was a message he doubled down on when interviewed by Main Event\u2019s Damon 12 hours later.<\/p>\n \u201cThis combination, Tszyu and Fenech, it\u2019s not just going to be remembered in boxing history, but sporting history,\u201d the fighter said. \u201cIt\u2019s been a long time in the making and I wanted a big Australian synergy, you know.<\/p>\n \u201cSomething that has never happened.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd this [fight with Spence] will be one of the greatest victories in Australian boxing history.\u201d<\/p>\n Brothers Tim and Nikita Tszyu are hunting boxing glory. If I can have as many legends as I can join, that means the world to me.\u201d<\/p>\n And that, Fenech said, also means the involvement of Lewis, who was involved in training both Hall of Famers and has long been a fan of Tim.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve spoken to Johnny about my thoughts and he is 100 per cent ready to support us,\u201d the four-time world champion said. \u201cFor me, if Kostya is there it will be the icing on the cake.<\/p>\n \u201cNot just for me.
