On Saturday night, the Tampa Bay Rays<\/a> will continue their series with the San Francisco Giants<\/a> (in Florida).<\/p>\n

The Rays are coming off a 3-0 win on Friday.<\/p>\n

Ahead of Saturday\u2019s game, the Rays announced that they had designated Yoendrys G\u00f3mez for assignment.<\/p>\n

Rays Communications wrote:<\/a> \u201cThe Tampa Bay Rays have reinstated LHP Garrett Cleavinger<\/a> (right calf tightness) from the 15-day IL. To make room on the active roster, RHP Yoendrys G\u00f3mez has been designated for assignment.\u201d<\/p>\n

G\u00f3mez\u2019s MLB Career\"\"<\/p>\n

G\u00f3mez had spent the first two and a half seasons of his career with the New York Yankees.<\/p>\n

In that span, the 26-year-old went 1-1 with a 3.09 ERA in 12 games.<\/p>\n

Last year, G\u00f3mez was claimed off waivers by the Los Angeles Dodgers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Yankees wrote (via X) on April 25, 2025:<\/a> \u201cEarlier today, RHP Yoendrys G\u00f3mez was claimed off waivers by the Los Angeles Dodgers.\u201d<\/p>\n

After a quick stop in Los Angeles, G\u00f3mez then finished last year with the Chicago White Sox.<\/p>\n

Over 36 career games, he has gone 3-3 with a 5.11 ERA.<\/p>\n

It will be interesting to see if he ends up in Triple-A (or elects free agency).<\/p>\n

At his age, G\u00f3mez could be an intriguing option for other bullpens around baseball.<\/p>\n

The Rays come into Saturday as the second-place team in the American League East with a 19-12 record in 31 games.<\/p>\n

They are just 1.5 games back of the Yankees (who are in first with a 21-11 record).<\/p>\n

Earlier this season, the Rays swept the Yankees in Tampa Bay.<\/p>\n
