Four years on from Shane Warne<\/a>‘s death, his daughter Brooke<\/a> has opened up about her journey with grief and the one message from him she still thinks of.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The cricketing legend died suddenly in 2022 from a heart attack<\/a> and the 29-year-old admitted that this grief<\/a> is something that will never go away.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“You learn how to live without a part of you. It’s such a weird thing, we like to say it comes in waves, when you’re going through it it’s like the waves of the ocean,” she told the Adelaide Advertiser<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“My Dad had this little saying \u2013 keep your head in the stars and your feet on the ground. Being grounded is very important so it’s been tough but I’m lucky to have the people around me that I do, the support network is very important.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

She admitted that some days are easier than others, and there are times where she could almost imagine that Shane was about to walk in the front door.\u00a0<\/p>\n

For Brooke, one of the most difficult things about processing her grief was having to do it in the public eye.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Warne was one of the most beloved sportsmen across the globe, with his death making international headlines, and in turn his children were also put into the spotlight too.<\/p>\n

While she admitted she and siblings Jackson and Summer<\/a> are used to being in the spotlight, after growing up this way, it was “infuriating.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Dad worked so hard his whole life and went through so much scrutiny and we have always dealt with it and unfortunately after he passed, it got bad for a while with people camping out the front of our house at 6am not even 12 hours after he had passed. But we have dealt with that since we were little and this time it was even more infuriating,” she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Brooke said it’s a unique experience to have someone come up to you and tell you how much they loved her dad, or share their own stories of him.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But she believes this is the best way to keep the memory of someone alive; to talk about them.<\/p>\n

During her December 2025 appearance on Warnes Way Podcast, she said she “couldn’t breathe” when her grandfather, Shane’s dad, rang to break the news he was gone<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Brooke said the things she missed the most about her dad was “the little stuff”, such as “driving in the car, staying at Crown, eating a pizza”.<\/p>\n

She also said she was glad they made up before his death after a period of not speaking to each other.<\/p>\n

The 29-year-old opened up about the harrowing moment she learned her dad had died during a December 2025 podcast appearance. (YouTube\/Jackson Warne)<\/p>\n

“There was a stage that we didn’t speak for a little while because we wanted to give each other space and as hard as that was, I think it was the best thing for our relationship,” she said.<\/p>\n

“If we both put our stubbornness aside earlier, we would have fixed our stuff earlier.\ufeff<\/p>\n

“I am very lucky that before everything happened with Dad we were able to figure everything out, which I am so grateful for.”<\/p>\n
