Dux Cafe & Restaurant, located on South Terrace in Como, has been praised as a go-to breakfast and lunch spot in the area.<\/p>\n
Offering bottomless brunches as well as modern takes on international lunchtime staples, Dux describes themselves as \u201ca place where food, wine and friendship come together\u201d.<\/p>\n
After more than two decades serving the Como and South Perth community, the owners of Dux shared a devastating closure announcement in an online statement on Sunday.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith a heavy heart, we are sorry to announce that our business has come to an end,\u201d they wrote in the announcement.<\/p>\n
The owners said the decision to close the joint was financial, spurring from a sudden increase in the building\u2019s rent.<\/p>\n
\u201cUnfortunately, as a small community-based business, we simply cannot afford the severely increased rent of 25% from the new landlord,\u201d the owners shared.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is heartbreaking that Dux ends with us after more than two decades of serving the community.\u201d<\/p>\n
The update is a sad change for the acclaimed restaurant, who won a Gold Plate award for \u2018Best Breakfast in Perth metro area\u2019 from the Catering Institute of Australia in 2023.<\/p>\n

The South Terrace hotspot will close their kitchen to the public on Sunday following the Mother\u2019s Day rush.<\/p>\n
They will continue to operate solely as a cafe for several weeks afterwards, announcing they will continue selling coffee to the community until their doors officially shut at the end of June.<\/p>\n
Members of the Como and South Perth communities were quick to voice their heartbreak over the sudden announcement.<\/p>\n
\u201cSuch sad news for the community,\u201d one local lamented, while another patron praised the establishment for \u201cmany enjoyable meals served over the past two decades\u201d.<\/p>\n
Dux\u2019s announcement follows a string of restaurant closures across Perth in recent months.<\/p>\n
