Behind another dominant weekend at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex, the No. 1 Georgia women\u2019s tennis team swept its way into the NCAA Super Regionals with 4-0 scores over Alabama State and No. 31 Charlotte.<\/p>\n
Georgia, 20-5 on the season, opened play Saturday with a first-round win over Alabama State, securing the doubles point behind victories from the pairs of freshman Emma Dong and sophomore Anastasiia Gureva, and senior Anastasiia Lopata and freshman Patricija Paukstyte. In singles, Dong built on her doubles victory with a 6-0, 6-0 win, followed by straight-set victories from seniors Sofia Rojas and Alexandra Vecic, who clinched the match in her return from injury.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Head coach Drake Bernstein called Vecic\u2019s performance \u201ca special moment for the whole group,\u201d with the match marking her first completed dual-match appearance since Feb. 1, 2025, at North Carolina before injury.<\/p>\n
Any momentum from Saturday carried seamlessly over into Sunday, where Georgia swept Charlotte to advance to the NCAA Super Regionals. The Bulldogs again secured the doubles point before singles wins from Lopata, Dong and Rojas finished the job.<\/p>\n
\u201cAny win in this tournament and being one of the final 16 teams is an accomplishment,\u201d Bernstein said after Georgia extended its home winning streak to 19 matches over the weekend. \u201cWe\u2019re ready to take it on to next week.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
