28-year-old Western Force winger Dylan Pietsch is making a serious play for an appearance at the 2027 Rugby World Cup after inking a new two-year deal.<\/p>\n
It keeps Pietsch at the Western Force for what will be his third and fourth Super Rugby Pacific seasons at the club, following an impressive debut campaign in 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The announcement comes at the perfect time following his two-try match-winning performance in the Force’s narrow 20-17 win over Pietsch’s former club NSW Waratahs.<\/p>\n
It was his third consecutive try scoring appearance, and consequently Pietsch has already exceeded his season haul of three tries in an injury-impacted 2025 season.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The 28-year-old, who moved to the Super Rugby competition in 2022 after representing Australia’s Sevens team at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, said he is “incredibly stoked” to have been able to commit to Perth for another two seasons.<\/p>\n
\u201cPerth is home for my wife Ella and I, so it\u2019s hard to imagine being anywhere else. I have so much belief in the direction of this club and where we are heading. Force and the fans have given me so much and I hope I can return the favour.<\/p>\n
\u201cBeing in the position to represent my family, culture and country is something I take a lot of pride in, and it drives me to work as hard as I can to hopefully wear the gold jersey.\u201d<\/p>\n
Pietsch is a rising star amongst Wallabies backs and will be in direct competition with a wealth of wingers such as Force teammate Zac Lomax, fellow Wallabies wingers Max Jorgensen and Harry Potter as well as imminent recruit Mark Nawaqanitawase for the 2027 World Cup side.<\/p>\n
He made three appearances for the Wallabies last year, scoring tries against both the Springboks and the British & Irish Lions as well as contributing to the Indigenous-inspired design of the Wallabies jersey for the Lions tour.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Wiradjuri descendant was hailed by Force coach Simon Cron as “a great man”.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re really happy to have Pietschy re-commit to the Club. We know he loves it at the Force,” Cron said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s constantly engaged with our group. He\u2019s had a bit of a tough run of it with injury, so it\u2019s great having him back on the park.\u00a0As a player, he adds power and speed. He\u2019s built a great combination with the guys we have on the wings, like Darby Lancaster and Zac Lomax.<\/p>\n
