The second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs is in full swing. <\/p>\n
The Philadelphia Flyers and Carolina Hurricanes played Game 2 of their series on Monday, while the Anaheim Ducks and Vegas Golden Knights began their series. <\/p>\n
Here’s a look at what went down on Monday and a glance at Tuesday’s slate. <\/p>\n
Carolina Hurricanes def. Philadelphia Flyers, 3-2 (CAR leads series 2-0)<\/p>\n
Vegas Golden Knights def. Anaheim Ducks, 3-1 (VGK leads 1-0)<\/p>\n
Minnesota Wild vs. Colorado Avalanche, 8 p.m. ET (COL leads series 1-0)<\/p>\n
The Hurricanes lead the series 2-0 after outlasting the Flyers in overtime. <\/p>\n
Philadelphia jumped out to a quick lead after first-period goals from Jamie Drysdale and Sean Couturier within a minute of each other. <\/p>\n
Carolina managed to cut the lead to just one before both offenses went stagnant in the second period. <\/p>\n
Time was ticking for Carolina to avoid a Game 1 loss, but Seth Jarvis came through with a late goal to tie things up. His goal eventually sent things into overtime. <\/p>\n
It appeared one overtime period wasn’t going to be enough, but Taylor Hall\u00a0delivered the game-winning goal with just over a minute remaining. <\/p>\n
Philadelphia will look to avoid a dreaded 3-0 deficit in Game 3. <\/p>\n
Golden Knights 3, Ducks 1<\/p>\n
The Golden Knights have the early advantage in the series after taking Game 1. <\/p>\n
There wasn’t much offense to speak of, but Vegas had just enough to pick up a crucial win. The Golden Knights struck first in the second period after a goal from Brett Howden. <\/p>\n
That goal went unanswered until nearly 15 minutes into the third when Mikael Granlund put Anaheim on the board. <\/p>\n
The tie didn’t hold for long, though, as Ivan Barbashev delivered the go-ahead goal for Vegas just over a minute later. <\/p>\n
The Ducks weren’t able to answer Barbashev’s goal, and an empty-netter in the final seconds sealed it as the Golden Knights escaped with a win in Game 1.
