Kid Cudi has kicked M.I.A. off his tour after fans complained about her \u201coffensive\u201d onstage rants.<\/p>\n
The rapper announced M.I.A. was \u201cno longer\u201d part of his Rebel Ragers Tour after she was reportedly booed during a recent show.<\/p>\n
M.I.A. born Mathangi Arulpragasam was performing on Kid Cudi\u2019s Rebel Ragers Tour when the backlash erupted at a show in Dallas.<\/p>\n
Kid Cudi, whose real name is Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi, shared the update in an Instagram Story titled \u201cTOUR UPDATE.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cM.I.A is no longer on this tour,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n
\u201cI told my management to send a notice to her team before we started tour that I didn’t want anything offensive at my shows, cuz I already knew what time it was, and I was assured things were understood.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said fans had flooded him with complaints after her recent performances.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter the last couple shows, I\u2019ve been flooded with messages from fans that were upset by her rants,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis, to me, is very disappointing and I won\u2019t have someone on my tour making offensive remarks that upsets my fanbase.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThank you for understanding,\u201d he added, signing off as \u201cRager.\u201d<\/p>\n
The blow-up came after M.I.A. used part of her support set to speak about politics.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve been cancelled for many reasons,\u201d she told the crowd over the weekend.<\/p>\n
\u201cI never thought I would be cancelled for being a brown Republican voter. I can\u2019t do \u2018Illegal,\u2019 though some of you could be in the audience.\u201d<\/p>\n
The crowd responded with boos after the remarks.<\/p>\n
One TikTok user later branded her \u201cThe worst warm-up act of all time.\u201d<\/p>\n
Her comments drew extra attention because of the meaning behind Illegal.<\/p>\n
The 2010 track is about the dehumanisation of migrants and refugees.<\/p>\n
M.I.A. has previously spoken about growing up in London as the child of Tamil refugees from Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n
She first rose to fame as one of the most distinctive artists of the 2000s.<\/p>\n
Her debut album Arular mixed dance hall, punk, baile funk, and Tamil music.<\/p>\n
The Rebel Ragers Tour is next set to stop in Birmingham, Alabama, on May 5.<\/p>\n
It will then head to Atlanta on May 6, Tampa on May 8, and West Palm Beach on May 9.<\/p>\n
