A Zurich spokesperson confirmed players were advised that no TPD benefit would be payable after May 1 for those specified conditions. \u201cThere remains continued widespread uncertainty about the long-term health impacts and risks associated with concussion events from playing high-contact sports, including the subsequent development of Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE),\u201d the spokesperson said, as reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2026-03-27\/afl-players-to-lose-insurance-coverage-for-brain-injuries\/106503280\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">ABC<\/a>. Previously, AFL players could hold up to $1.1 million in combined death and TPD cover through the fund.
