Accompanying Jayden Campbell in the halves for Friday night’s match against the Sydney Roosters, Harrison has long been touted as one of the club’s most exciting prospects and has already drawn early comparisons to NRL legend Johnathan Thurston during his younger days.

A member of the club’s pathways system since the age of 15, he heads into his NRL debut with an astute resume and will look to build on his strong development through the junior ranks and QLD Cup reserve-grade competition.

Known for his vision, composure, attacking intelligence and excellent passing and kicking game, he is a natural halfback and will organise the club’s attack, an area that the side has lacked in recent weeks.

“That’s always been the dream to play NRL and if I was to do it, it’d be something special,” Harrison told this columnist just under 12 months ago.

A local boy who grew up in Tweed Heads, Harrison had the opportunity to depart the club in 2024 but decided to remain loyal in an attempt to bring success to the Titans amid links to at least six other rival teams.

Sticking with his childhood club, he is contracted until the end of the 2027 season.

“I’m obviously a Gold Coast boy. I grew up in Tweed Heads, so I’m lucky enough to stay local. I’m lucky enough the Titans offered me a deal like that so I’m around for a couple more years,” he added.

“I’m just grateful that the Titans kind of let me have that opportunity and I can’t wait to excel with them.

“It’s a bit of loyalty but I’m kind of thinking that I want to hopefully bring success one day to the Titans and it being my home team I couldn’t think of anything better than bringing success back to the Titans.

“That’s what I wanted and hopefully going in the upward direction to achieve that.”

Idolising Johnathan Thurston and Nathan Cleary, Harrison has been developing steadily behind the scenes and has been impressing club officials.

One individual who was extremely impressed with the young half was Kieran Foran.

Although he is now the interim coach of the Manly Sea Eagles, Foran took Harrison under his wing during his time at the Titans and helped mentor him.

“He’s a great young player. He works incredibly hard on his game and he’s really eager to learn and evolve and get better,” Kieran Foran said at the end of last year.

“He has been a gun schoolboy coming through. There are huge opinions on him and I’ve been really impressed with what I’ve seen of him this year.

“He transitioned to QLD Cup and played incredibly well.

“He’s been playing half for the majority of his life and he understands the pressure that comes with that role and he’s adapted well to it. I think he’s got a big future.”

A two-time NSW Blues representative, Harrison has been earmarked as the future of the club and their long-term No.7.

The 2024 Peter Sterling Medallist, he led Palm Beach Currumbin State High School to Queensland and National Schoolboy Cup titles, represented the Under-17s NSW side against Warrington Wolves and won Player of the Match in the 2022 Andrew Johns Cup Grand Final.

“He’s going to be an up-and-coming half and I’ve played with him before, so he’s a pretty special talent,” fullback Keano Kini has been quoted as saying in the past.

“He’s very level-headed for a young fella and I think he’s definitely going to be a prodigy of the future.”

After nine rounds, Gold Coast Titans coach Josh Hannay has finally decided to pull the trigger and will…

[568
64,63,761,762,158,85
post-653979","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-nrl","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-national-rugby-league","tag-nationalrugbyleague","tag-nrl","tag-sports
["GET
