Nikita hits Diaz while down | 00:42

So as for what is next then?

“It’s a fact that Nikita is ranked that highly he could fight for a world title,” the promoter said. “That opportunity could be presented to him.

“But right now, he’s so raw.

“There has been a lot of inactivity over the past few years. I know he wants to be more active, get more fights and I agree.

“There are so many more opportunities out there for him.

“And who we chose for him? We’ll have to sit down and have a chat.

“We couldn’t decide Nikita’s next step before this. We had to see his performance tonight.

“And I think it’s the most complete performance we’ve seen from him.

“So I do think he’s ready for another step up again.

“But we’ll have a chat with the team, with Nikita and see how he feels. But we’d like to get him back out as soon as he wants to again … and in another opportunity to show more growth.”

Rose added the super welterweight division was perfect for making great fights.

“He’s in a great division,” the promoter said of Tszyu. “And there are definitely [big fights] in his future.
