For years, buying Apple products on sale has felt a bit like spotting a designer handbag in the wild marked down before payday. Rare, slightly thrilling and enough to send people into a mildly unhinged online spiral.

The latest gadget causing exactly that kind of reaction? Apple’s brand-new AirPods Pro 3, which have quietly received a significant price cut on Amazon Australia.

Normally priced at $429, the highly anticipated earbuds are currently down to $348, saving shoppers $80 or 19 per cent.

Considering these only recently landed, it is the sort of discount that tends to disappear quickly once word gets around.

And unlike many tech upgrades that feel suspiciously identical to the previous version with a shinier box, the AirPods Pro 3 actually come packed with enough new features to make even the most stubborn “my old ones still work fine” person start rationalising the purchase.

Apple claims the earbuds now deliver its best in-ear active noise cancellation yet, removing up to twice as much unwanted sound compared to the previous generation.

In practical terms, that means fewer train screeches, fewer office distractions and less exposure to the man on public transport loudly watching TikToks without headphones.

The audio performance has also had a serious overhaul.

Apple says the redesigned acoustic architecture creates deeper bass, sharper clarity and richer vocals, making everything from chaotic gym playlists to podcast binges sound noticeably more immersive.

Spatial audio has become one of those features people don’t think they care about until they try it and suddenly standard audio feels oddly flat.

But perhaps the biggest talking point is the addition of built-in heart rate sensing.

The AirPods Pro 3 can now track heart rate and calories burned across up to 50 workout types, syncing with iPhone fitness data and Apple’s Workout Buddy powered by Apple Intelligence. Fitness trackers are officially no longer confined to wrists.

Then there’s the live translation feature, which sounds suspiciously futuristic but could come in handy for travel, international work meetings or anyone attempting to confidently order food overseas without accidentally requesting something terrifying.

Battery life has also improved, with users getting up to 8 hours of listening time with active noise cancellation switched on, or up to 10 hours in Transparency mode using the Hearing Aid feature. That alone is enough to get frequent flyers and chronic forget-to-charge people interested.

Comfort has not been ignored either. The new ear tips now come in five sizes for a more personalised fit, which matters more than people realise until one earbud inevitably launches itself onto the pavement mid-run.

Apple has also leaned heavily into hearing health features this time around.

Users can take a hearing test from home, use the Hearing Aid function for clearer conversations and reduce exposure to loud environmental noise through the Loud Sound Reduction feature.

The result is a pair of earbuds that feel less like a simple music accessory and more like a tiny wearable tech device doing approximately 14 jobs at once.

For shoppers who have been waiting for the right moment to upgrade, this may be the sweet spot between “new release excitement” and “slightly less painful price tag”.

[6
180319,180320,64,63,12193,1625,7240,3863,105
post-654605","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-technology","tag-7you","tag-7you-technology","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-explore-more","tag-lifestyle","tag-shopping","tag-sponsored-content","tag-technology
["GET
