Red-hot American fighter, Abdullah Mason, anticipates another statement knockout win when he puts his WBO lightweight world championship on the line against Joe Cordina on July 4 at the Wolstein Center in Cleveland atop a Top Rank card on DAZN.<\/p>\n
Mason won the belt in his last fight when he scored a 12-round decision win over Sam Noakes at the ANB Arena in Riyadh, and so his return to the ring, this summer, is his first fight back in the State he grew up in.<\/p>\n
Part of the reason for his absence from the ring is, arguably, the delay in which Top Rank was able to secure a distribution deal but now that they\u2019ve secured the DAZN partnership, one of the promotion\u2019s best fighters is back \u2014 and he said this week he\u2019s \u201chere to have a lot of fun.\u201d<\/p>\n
When asked if he anticipates a knockout win over Cordina, who has only been stopped once in 20 fights, he said \u201cfor sure,\u201d but was loathe to elaborate. \u201cI\u2019m not going to tell you how it\u2019s going to go down, I know July 4th, I\u2019m going to enjoy it just as much as Cleveland is going to enjoy it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Cordina, who has fought Shavkatdzhon Rakhminov and Anthony Cacace, among others, said the day might be \u201cmassive \u2026 for America\u201d but \u201cit\u2019s a massive day for boxing.\u201d<\/p>\n
