DOGS\u2019 \u2018GROWING CONFIDENCE\u2019 IN SILVAGNI RACE<\/p>\n

The Western Bulldogs are growing in confidence they could land Blues hybrid Jack Silvagni, despite Collingwood remaining the favourites. <\/p>\n

While it\u2019s believed the Magpies are still ahead in the race for Silvagni, the third-generation Blue has reportedly met with key Dogs officials, as the gap between them and the Pies to land his signature \u201cis potentially closing\u201d. <\/p>\n

Silvagni, an unrestricted free agent this season, is canvassing his options despite having a four-year deal on the table from the Blues. <\/p>\n

AFL Media\u2019s Riley Beveridge reports \u201cthere\u2019s confidence growing\u201d at the Kennel regarding their pursuit of the forward-turned-defender. <\/p>\n

\u201cA big development with Jack Silvagni over the last week; he has now met with the Western Bulldogs, which is the third rival club he has met with,\u201d Beveridge told Gettable. <\/p>\n

\u201cAs we know, he met with Collingwood and \u2018Fly\u2019, Craig McRae was very open about that, he\u2019s met with Brad Scott as he weighs up interest from Essendon, (and) he has now met with key and senior figures at the Western Bulldogs across the last week. <\/p>\n

\u201cI said last week I thought the Western Bulldogs were some way back in this mix \u2014 I think there\u2019s confidence growing at the Bulldogs. <\/p>\n

\u201cI still think Collingwood has its nose in front, but I don\u2019t think it\u2019s as significant as it was maybe a week or two ago when he first met with Craig McRae and figures at Collingwood. <\/p>\n

\u201cI think that gap, now, is potentially closing, although if I was to call it, I still think Collingwood is the favourite.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Bulldogs\u2019 key shortfall this season has been behind the ball, thus their pursuit of Silvagni would appear warranted. The Dogs have a 2-8 record against the top nine teams and rank eighth for points against. <\/p>\n

ALL-AUS MID\u2019S FUTURE IN DOUBT<\/p>\n

The Western Bulldogs reportedly haven\u2019t commenced contract talks with injury-riddled midfielder Adam Treloar as his AFL career appears in a state of flux. <\/p>\n

SEN\u2019s Sam Edmund reports<\/a> there\u2019s \u201cstill no movement\u201d on talks between the Dogs and Treloar\u2019s camp, with the 32-year-old having been severely hampered by calf injuries this year. <\/p>\n

It was just last season that Treloar \u2014 whose five-year contract expires at the end of this season \u2014 won his maiden All-Australian blazer after a 23-game campaign and averages of 31.5 disposals, 4.5 inside-50s and 5.8 clearances. But this year, he\u2019s managed just four outings. <\/p>\n

Despite his persistent injury troubles, though, the renowned ball-getter remains a chance of returning to the field this year; labelled a test with his current calf issue as he plots a VFL return this weekend. <\/p>\n
