Draymond Green<\/a> made his return<\/a> to\u00a0Inside the NBA on Wednesday for the first time in a while, and it didn\u2019t take long before the conversation got a little awkward between Green and the show\u2019s star, Charles Barkley.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n About halfway through the pregame show ahead of ESPN\u2019s broadcast of Game 2 between the Philadelphia 76ers<\/a> and New York Knicks<\/a>, Inside pivoted to what was, effectively, an interview with Green about his future with the Golden State Warriors<\/a>. When it was Barkley\u2019s turn to chime in, he stated quite bluntly that the Warriors\u2019 run was over.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s over for the Warriors,\u201d Barkley said<\/a>. \u201cNo disrespect. It is for every old team. You have your run, you get old \u2026 it just passed you by. Y\u2019all had one of the greatest runs ever.\u201d<\/p>\n Given a chance to respond, Green acknowledged the future is uncertain, but didn\u2019t seem to appreciate Barkley\u2019s negativity.<\/p>\n As the conversation progressed, Green sniped back with a shot at Barkley\u2019s final years in the NBA.<\/p>\n \u201cI think the goal is just to not look like you in the Houston Rockets<\/a> uniform,\u201d Green said with a smirk.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n While Barkley offered a meek \u201cyeah\u201d in response, he notably did not speak the rest of the segment.<\/p>\n As Jon Lewis of Sports Media Watch noted, the back-and-forth had a sharper tone than the usual joking on\u00a0Inside, which often is between Barkley and Shaquille O\u2019Neal.<\/p>\n \u201cBarkley\u2019s criticisms aren\u2019t *usually* intended to be insulting (there are definitely exceptions). But Draymond\u2019s retorts have that personal aspect,\u201d he wrote on X<\/a>.<\/p>\n The last time Green\u2019s overly critical perspective overtook a broadcast was last year\u2019s NBA All-Star weekend, when he trashed<\/a> the format of the game and mocked<\/a> LeBron James<\/a> for not participating. Green was widely criticized<\/a> for the commentary (including by Barkley<\/a>), and it led us at Awful Announcing to wonder whether Green\u2019s expected post-career leap to TNT Sports might be in jeopardy<\/a>.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n Fortunately, the discussion between Green and Barkley stayed on course, but the tone noticeably changed after Green became defensive.
