KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The 2026 Mid-American Conference Champion Western Michigan men’s tennis team announced its 2025-26 team awards.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Junior Ashton Adesoro<\/a> was named both the Team Most Valuable Player and the Singles Player of the Year. Adesoro was named First Team All-MAC after going 8-2 in singles play, all at No. 1. He was 16-7 in dual matches and 23-12 when adding in Fall play.\u00a0<\/p>\n “Ashton led the team with 45 overall combined wins in singles and doubles,” said head coach David Morin. “He was the last match on in several dual matches and played his best tennis during big moments. Going 8-2 in MAC and 15-7 in duals at No. 1 singles is impressive numbers at any position, but all the more so when you’re playing the best player form the opposing team.”<\/p>\n Junior Drew Evans<\/a> and graduate student Tim Riedel<\/a> were named the Doubles Team of the Year. The duo was 10-6 in dual matches and 8-2 in MAC play, primarily at No. 2 where they posted a 6-2 record. The pair won the MAC Indoor Qualifying Event Doubles Championship, earning a trip to the ITA Conference Masters, where they picked up a pair of victories before falling in the quarterfinals.\u00a0<\/p>\n “We had three great doubles teams in our line-up this year, but winning the MAC Indoor Qualifying Event and two matches at the ITA Masters in San Diego separated this doubles team from our other combos.”<\/p>\n Rookie of the Year went to freshman Chen-Hui (Lucas) Ho. Ho led the Broncos in total singles wins on the season, with a combined 26 between Fall and Spring. In dual matches he was 16-7, going 8-2 in MAC play. He competed primarily at the No. 4 and No. 5 spots in singles, with an 8-0 record at No. 5.\u00a0<\/p>\n “Lucas had a great first year and led us with 26 singles wins,” said Morin. “He’ll be one of the top players in the MAC next year and we’re excited for his future.\u00a0<\/p>\n Sophomore Oscar Corwin<\/a> was voted the Most Improved Player. Corwin was 22-13 overall in singles play, also going 8-2 in MAC singles while primarily playing at No. 2 and No. 3 and earning Second Team All-MAC honors. Corwin also teamed up with Alex Antonopoulos<\/a> as WMU’s No. 1 doubles team for the majority of the season. In dual matches, they went 12-5 and 4-2 in MAC play. \u00a0<\/p>\n “OC played his best tennis down the stretch and is a big reason we won the MAC Regular Season Championship,” added Morin.<\/p>\n
