Everton<\/a> have been dealt a blow on the eve of the season after centre back Jarrad Branthwaite injured a hamstring in training.<\/p>\n

The 23-year old is understood to have aggravated the same hamstring in his right thigh that saw him limp of in the final game at Goodison against Southampton<\/a> in May.<\/p>\n

The England international sustained it during routine sprinting drills and there are fears he could be out until the end of September.<\/p>\n

Branthwaite agreed a new contract in the summer amid interest from Chelsea<\/a>, Tottenham<\/a>, Liverpool<\/a> and Manchester City<\/a>.<\/p>\n

His commitment was key for David Moyes<\/a> as he strives to build a competitive squad for the new campaign.<\/p>\n

Everton have been gently easing James Tarkowski back into action following his hamstring surgery earlier in the summer.<\/p>\n

David Moyes has called on the club to make at least six more signings to boost his squad depth<\/p>\n

They also have Jake O’Brien and Michael Keane but Moyes has been eager to add another defender and at least one more full-back amid other fitness concerns.<\/p>\n

He has been determined to add a right winger as well following the addition of Jack Grealish on loan.<\/p>\n

In total, Moyes has been appealing for the club to make at least six more signings to bolster a threadbare squad ahead of Monday’s kick off against Leeds United, who are poised to sign former Toffees striker Dominic Calvert Lewin on a three-year contract.<\/p>\n
