Liberty Media<\/a> has published its Q1 financial results, with Formula 1<\/a> posting the highest revenue in its history during the opening three months of 2026.<\/p>\n

The 2026 regulations have been met with plenty of fierce criticism, but from a purely financial standpoint, Formula 1 continues to thrive like never before in its history. Despite the scepticism that surrounded the opening races of the season, Formula 1 delivered hugely encouraging Q1 figures, with revenue jumping 53% to $617 million compared to $403 million last year. Operating income also surged from $28 million to $107 million, while adjusted OIBDA rose by 102% to reach $172 million compared to $85 million in 2025.<\/p>\n

Another factor that positively contributed to Q1 growth was the addition of an extra race, with three Grands Prix held compared to just two during the same period 12 months earlier. The cancellation of the Saudi Arabian and Jeddah Grands Prix, while it still to be seen whether they will be rescheduled<\/a> later in the season, had no impact on Q1 figures as they were not originally part of the opening three-month window. However, the situation could potentially affect the financial results of the second quarter.<\/p>\n

Domenicali \u2018thrilled\u2019 by Formula 1\u2019s start to the 2026 seasonEchoing Chang\u2019s comments, Formula 1 CEO Domenicali also praised the strong start to the 2026 season, highlighting the increased overtaking and closely fought battles seen in the opening rounds. He also pointed to the positive commercial momentum surrounding the sport, including the successful start of Formula 1\u2019s partnership with Apple in the United States, the renewal of its long-term agreement with Sky,<\/a> and new commercial deals with companies such as Standard Chartered and Marsh.<\/p>\n
