(Supplied: RAA)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">But Mr Nattrass said with one in every two SA motorists considering an EV for their next vehicle, private investment supported by government was needed to expand the charging network.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;For every 1,000 electric vehicles added, there&#8217;s another 17 charging points that are needed,&#8221;  he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;When we look at the concentrated demand in the south-east, the Riverland and up towards Port Augusta, there&#8217;s a need to really build out that network.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;The <a class=\"Link_link__kR0xA Link_link__5eL5m ScreenReaderOnly_srLinkHint__OysWz Link_showVisited__C1Fea Link_showFocus__ALyv2\" href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2024-08-18\/sa-electric-vehicle-uptake-increases-as-charging-rollout\/104206328\" data-component=\"Link\" data-uri=\"coremedia:\/\/article\/104206328\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">RAA built out the minimum viable network<\/a> needed statewide, but we really want to see a lot more choice in the market.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Chargers drawing visitors<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Wattle Range Council chief executive Ben Gower switched to using an EV about three years ago.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;I&#8217;ve found it really easy to get around the state, around the region and particularly locally,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"A man sitting in a car, with his hands on the steering wheel\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/7d5f90e006115c5f8b0f2ad645ff748d.jpeg\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">Ben Gower says the council plans to add chargers in its office car park.
