After some investigating, though, the sighting was confirmed, and several teams sprang into action.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"1\">\u201cThe animal swam up there due to excessive rainfall and high tides,\u201d Lowcountry Marine Mammal Network wrote on Instagram. \u201cAs the water receded, she became stuck due to shallow water and fallen trees.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1755133029_912_scale;webp=auto;jpeg_quality=60.jpg\"  alt=\"dolphin\" width=\"792\" height=\"559\" style=\"display:block;height:auto;aspect-ratio:792 \/ 559\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>The Dodo<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"0\">Lowcountry Marine Mammal Network teamed up with the <a href=\"https:\/\/blufftonfd.com\/?fbclid=PAZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAafTmOyjPl0IHoagjQVV-aNfmeiR0JrVkDhY0LncdR5tEAubJjNDGCaxXx5XrQ_aem_UE0EQNkf0HGOFla9TBO4Uw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bluffton Fire Department<\/a>, and together they headed to the lagoon, where the poor dolphin was waiting for someone to help her. She was miles away from the ocean, and it wasn\u2019t going to be easy getting her back home.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"0\">The dolphin, who weighed approximately 500 pounds, was loaded onto a marine rescue tarp, and it took eight people to carry her out of the water and 75 feet up to a utility trailer. Her rescuers examined her to make sure she was doing OK \u2014 and soon realized they knew her.<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"0\">\u201cAfter a quick health check she was determined to be a 7-foot female known to local researchers at USC Bluffton as Lucky,\u201d Lowcountry Marine Mammal Network wrote. \u201cShe\u2019s regularly seen in the May River.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1755133029_975_scale;webp=auto;jpeg_quality=60.jpg\"  alt=\"dolphin\" width=\"792\" height=\"765\" style=\"display:block;height:auto;aspect-ratio:792 \/ 765\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>The Dodo<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"0\">The team traveled 2 miles, never leaving Lucky\u2019s side, until they reached deeper waters and a safe release spot. They lifted Lucky up again, pouring water on her along the way to make sure she stayed hydrated. Then they began the final trek down to the water.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1755133030_176_scale;webp=auto;jpeg_quality=60.jpg\"  alt=\"dolphin\" width=\"792\" height=\"763\" style=\"display:block;height:auto;aspect-ratio:792 \/ 763\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>The Dodo<\/p>\n<p data-element-index=\"0\">After two hours of rescuing and transporting, Lucky was finally released back where she belonged.
