Trent Robinson confirmed last week that he will see out the remainder of his contract until the end of 2027.

“Of course he will,” Robinson said.

“I think you’ve got to be careful that, that stuff people don’t buy into those conversations too much.

“Just because one person says it doesn’t mean it’s true. We know where we’re at between Spenny and I and the club and his management and we’ll keep rolling on.”

Whether or not the rumours were true surrounding his future, Leniu will still be free to test the open market on November 1, where the PNG Chiefs are expected to show a high interest.

“Spenny doesn’t talk to anyone outside of there and we haven’t either, so I think it’s disappointing when those things come up,” Robinson said.

“We really value the way that he plays and that opportunity is right there in front of him. It’s disappointing a bit of the commentary around it but we can’t handle that.

“That’s the interest of when someone doesn’t play as much as time as they want and Spenny’s never been one to hide his emotions and that’s why we value him as well..

“We’ve had clear conversations about what my expectations are and what he wants and we’re really clear on that and there’s no better time than tomorrow.”
