Andy Lloyd \/ Ourmedia<\/p>\n<p>In the past,\u00a0I\u2019ve\u00a0found Canyon\u2019s bikes\u00a0prioritise\u00a0performance\u00a0and stiffness, which usually comes at the expense of comfort \u2013\u00a0something\u00a0I\u00a0want\u00a0from an endurance bike.\u00a0Thankfully,\u00a0the\u00a0Endurace\u00a0CF\u00a0SLX 8 eschews that\u00a0reputation\u00a0wholly.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While this latest design\u00a0is\u00a0amply stiff at the bottom bracket,\u00a0making it a bike that accelerates with the sort-of vigour usually reserved for a race\u00a0machine,\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0layered with a smoothness\u00a0at the rear that makes it excel on longer rides. Combined with the sporty\u00a0geometry,\u00a0it means it&#8217;s\u00a0fast, forgiving and a lot of fun.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1800\" height=\"1200\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/canyon-endurace-slx-16Andy-Lloyd.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-970542\"\/>The tyre clearances are very generous. Andy Lloyd \/ Ourmedia<\/p>\n<p>Although the aerodynamics\u00a0weren&#8217;t\u00a0as much\u00a0of\u00a0a priority\u00a0when developing the CF SLX, Canyon claims\u00a0a\u00a0system-drag figure of 209W\u00a0at 45kph\u00a0\u2013\u00a0that\u2019s\u00a0only 4W\u00a0more than the\u00a0Endurace\u00a0CFR (and 5W\u00a0more that the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/reviews\/bikes\/road-bikes\/2024-canyon-aeroad-cfr-di2-first-ride-review\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Aeroad\u00a0CFR<\/a>).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>There are\u00a0plenty of practical features alongside the focus on aerodynamics.\u00a0The down\u00a0tube broadens just ahead of the bottle bosses to create both an aero shield for the bottle cage and allow for a large storage port that can take a multi-tool, tyre levers and a C02\u00a0pump\u00a0(all included with the bike), plus a stowing bag\u00a0with\u00a0a\u00a0spare tube and C02 cartridge.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1800\" height=\"1200\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/canyon-endurace-slx-09Andy-Lloyd.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-970535\" style=\"aspect-ratio:3\/2;object-fit:cover\"\/>The storage is generous, with space for plenty of spares and tools. Andy Lloyd \/ Ourmedia<\/p>\n<p>The down-tube storage is a far more practical\u00a0space than the\u00a0small top-tube stowage chamber on the\u00a0previous\u00a0generation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Endurace\u00a0CF\u00a0SLX also gets\u00a0a\u00a0larger\u00a038mm\u00a0tyre clearance, or 35mm with Canyon\u2019s\u00a0Fast fender\u00a0mudguards.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Up front,\u00a0the new PACE one-piece cockpit offers both 50mm of\u00a0handlebar\u00a0width and 20mm of height\u00a0adjustment. It also comes with a new ergonomic\u00a0108mm\u00a0compact drop and 8-degree flare\u00a0that\u00a0complements the frame\u2019s sporty geometry.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>ninja_tables id=&#8221;970455&#8243;<\/p>\n<p>Additional\u00a0vibration-damping comfort comes in the form of\u00a0the\u00a0all-new, aero-shaped VCLS seatpost, which Canyon claims offers 25 per cent more compliance than a rigid post.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The wheelbase is lengthened\u00a0to\u00a01,038mm\u00a0on my XL-sized test bike, from the\u00a01,029mm\u00a0on the\u00a0previous\u00a0Endurace.\u00a0Canyon says this\u00a0helps\u00a0maintain the race-inspired handling, but adds\u00a0a layer of confidence-boosting stability.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1800\" height=\"1200\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/canyon-endurace-slx-11Andy-Lloyd.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-970537\"\/>The new VCLS aero post offers 25% more compliance than a standard post. Andy Lloyd \/ Ourmedia<\/p>\n<p>The 8.6kg weight might\u00a0not read as particularly light, but\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0in line with\u00a0Cannondale\u2019s\u00a0SmartSense-equipped\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/reviews\/bikes\/road-bikes\/cannondale-synapse-carbon-2-smartsense-review\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Synapse\u00a0Carbon 2<\/a>\u00a0at 8.85kg (with lights, radar and power pack)\u00a0\u2013\u00a0one of my favourite endurance bikes.\u00a0The similarly specced\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/reviews\/bikes\/road-bikes\/2024-giant-defy-advanced-pro-2-review\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Giant Defy Advanced 2 Pro<\/a>\u00a0comes in\u00a0slightly\u00a0lighter\u00a0at 8.48kg.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Endurace\u00a0CF\u00a0SLX is a great companion on\u00a0climbs;\u00a0the ride position enables you to sit in and concentrate on your cadence on longer uphill drags, while\u00a0the stability of the longer wheelbase means out-of-the-saddle attacks and short sprints\u00a0inspire confidence.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The DT Swiss ERC 1600 wheels are\u00a0an\u00a0OEM model (original equipment, therefore not found aftermarket)\u00a0with a\u00a0claimed 1,541g\u00a0combined weight\u00a0(including rim tape and tubeless valves). The\u00a035mm-deep rims are\u00a0paired with\u00a0DT Swiss\u2019 ever-reliable 350 hubs.\u00a0The\u00a0rims have a 22mm <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/rim-width-explained-for-road-bikes-mountain-bikes-and-gravel-bikes\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">internal width<\/a> and are hooked,\u00a0shaping the\u00a032mm Schwalbe Pro\u00a0One\u00a0tyres\u00a0true to size.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0wheel and tyre combination feels lighter when riding than their middling weight might suggest, aiding the light feeling when the road starts to rise.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Descending\u00a0with the new\u00a0Endurace\u00a0is where the fun\u00a0really\u00a0starts,\u00a0though.\u00a0The\u00a0bike\u2019s stability\u00a0inspires heaps of confidence,\u00a0thanks to the quick (but not twitchy) steering, the longer wheelbase and broad tyres that have tenacious grip when leaning into a corner at speed. Impressively, the\u00a0bike\u00a0never feels dull at speed.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On poorer surfaces,\u00a0the tyres offer plenty of compliance, and the VCLS\u00a0aero\u00a0seatpost\u00a0and excellent\u00a0Fizik saddle kept my hindquarters cosseted. The\u00a0new one-piece\u00a0cockpit\u00a0does\u00a0a good job\u00a0of reducing chatter too, and I like that\u00a0you can adjust\u00a0the width.\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0not a fan of\u00a0narrow bars\u00a0(which are on-trend), and being able to run the bar at a width I want without having to replace it is a bonus.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The single-sided 4iiii\u00a0power meter has\u00a0proven consistent.\u00a0It&#8217;s\u00a0not as\u00a0accurate\u00a0because it doubles your left-leg power, and\u00a0I found it\u00a0measured a few watts lower than my usual\u00a0Quarq\u00a0unit.\u00a0However, you could upgrade\u00a0the power meter down the\u00a0line.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1800\" height=\"1200\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/canyon-endurace-slx-15Andy-Lloyd.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-970541\" style=\"aspect-ratio:3\/2;object-fit:cover\"\/>The single-sided 4iiii power meter is very consistent. At \u00a34,299\u00a0\/ $TBC \/ \u20ac4,499,\u00a0it undercuts Cannondale\u2019s Synapse Carbon 2 at \u00a35,995 \/ $6,499 \/ \u20ac5,899.\u00a0Although\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/reviews\/bikes\/road-bikes\/2024-giant-defy-advanced-pro-2-review\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Giant\u2019s Defy Advanced Pro\u00a02<\/a>\u00a0is\u00a0cheaper\u00a0at\u00a0at\u00a0\u00a33,499 (and not universally available in Europe or the US),\u00a0it\u00a0doesn\u2019t\u00a0have a power meter or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/electronic-groupsets\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">electronic\u00a0groupset<\/a>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0you\u2019d\u00a0be looking at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/reviews\/bikes\/road-bikes\/giant-defy-advanced-sl-0-review\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Advanced 0<\/a> model for an equivalent spec, which comes in at\u00a0\u00a35,499\u00a0\/ $6,999 \/ \u20ac6,500.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Even direct-to-market rival Ribble\u00a0can\u2019t\u00a0get close to the\u00a0Endurace\u00a0CF\u00a0SLX 8,\u00a0with the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/features\/first-look-ribbles-new-allroad\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0Allroad\u00a0SL R Ultegra Di2<\/a>\u00a0retailing for\u00a0\u00a34,599\u00a0\/ $6,245 \/ \u20ac5,825.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>At this price,\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0very hard\u00a0to find a flaw with the\u00a0Endurace\u00a0CF\u00a0SLX 8 Di2. Would I change anything?\u00a0Perhaps\u00a0I\u2019d\u00a0take advantage of the increased tyre clearance\u00a0in the long-term\u00a0and switch\u00a0to\u00a0one of the new\u00a0breed\u00a0of larger-volume <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/advice\/buyers-guides\/best-road-bike-tyres\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">road tyres<\/a> such as the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bikeradar.com\/reviews\/components\/tyres\/road-bike-tyres\/continental-gp5000-s-tr-35mm-first-ride-review\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">35mm Continental GP5000\u00a0S TR,<\/a>\u00a0but even that would be gilding the lily.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The only niggle I had\u00a0with the bike\u00a0was the quarter-turn Garmin insert on the\u00a0out-front\u00a0mount worked loose, and I lost one of the tiny 2mm hex bolts. A dab of\u00a0threadlock\u00a0on the bolts\u00a0would have prevented that. Once\u00a0I informed Canyon,\u00a0the\u00a0brand\u00a0sent a replacement insert and bolts\u00a0\u2013 great customer service.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1800\" height=\"1200\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/canyon-endurace-slx-01Andy-Lloyd.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-970526\" style=\"aspect-ratio:3\/2;object-fit:cover\"\/>The Endurace SLX is a great companion on long rides. Andy Lloyd \/ Ourmedia<\/p>\n<p>How I tested the\u00a0Canyon\u00a0Endurace\u00a0CF\u00a0SLX 8 Di2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I tested\u00a0the\u00a0Endurace\u00a0CF\u00a0SLX over\u00a0a\u00a0succession of four-hour plus rides across Wiltshire and Somerset, taking in plenty of\u00a0ups and downs,\u00a0predominantly on\u00a0rural roads and\u00a0narrow\u00a0lanes, with\u00a0the occasional unmetalled section thrown in.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I made sure to test the bike over a mix of surfaces to\u00a0gauge how well the\u00a0Endurace\u00a0copes with less-than-optimal\u00a0roads\u00a0\u2013\u00a0another essential element of a good endurance bike.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Canyon\u00a0Endurace\u00a0SLX 8 Di2\u00a0bottom line\u00a0<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1800\" height=\"1200\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/canyon-endurace-slx-02Andy-Lloyd.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-970528\" style=\"aspect-ratio:3\/2;object-fit:cover\"\/>The Endurace SLX is a formidable descender.
